Jp75's detailed review of his Vacheron Constantin 222 offers a rare glimpse into the ownership experience of a highly coveted timepiece. His personal account, enriched with stunning photography, provides invaluable insights for collectors considering this modern reinterpretation of a classic. This article delves into Jp75's initial impressions and how the watch integrates into daily wear, highlighting its unique aesthetic and surprising versatility.

Wanted to briefly share with you my impressions after some weeks having the 222 on my wrist:

To start at the beginning, I must confess that the 222 is a watch which I appreciated when it was released but never thought I would ever get. Its strictly limited production made me ā€œappreciate it from a distanceā€, believing it was made of unobtainium: I had of course expressed interest at the boutique last year during one the latest events but I didn’t hold my breath too much.

Finally got the call in the spring and was very surprised… took me a whole second to process and accept the offer. Together with my wife we went to the boutique for a very pleasant and ceremonious unboxing: everyone at the Paris boutique was great, as always.

I was very impressed when the watch was finally sized and on my wrist: my immediate impression is that the combination of the brushed gold allied to a vintage inspired look make it much less ā€˜in your face’ than say a similarly sized PM Rolex.

The finish of the bracelet is second to none and the quality is very ā€œmodernā€ (i.e., solid) and the sapphire case back allows one to look at the movement which is nicely decorated with a 222. The similarities with the original version are just perfect and the small Maltese cross at 5 o’clock is a charming detail!

I enjoy the 222 both in the city as well as during some weekend outings:

While I was unsure at the beginning of the versatility of a full yellow gold watch, must say that I found it very versatile and I en joy it even on more casual settings.

Thanks for reading so far. Wishing you all a good and enjoyable summer time!  Jerome

About the Vacheron Constantin Historiques Ref. Historiques222

The Vacheron Constantin Historiques 222 is a re-edition that pays homage to a significant design from the brand's past. This model is part of the Historiques collection, which is dedicated to reinterpreting Vacheron Constantin's heritage pieces. The 222 stands out for its integrated bracelet design and distinctive monobloc-style case construction, reflecting a particular aesthetic prevalent in the 1970s. It represents a faithful recreation of its predecessor, updated with contemporary manufacturing techniques and materials while retaining the original proportions and character. This reference is a key offering within the brand's contemporary catalog that acknowledges its historical design language.

The case of the Historiques 222 is crafted from yellow gold, featuring a fluted bezel and a screw-down case back. It measures 37mm in diameter, a size that aligns closely with the original model and offers a balanced presence on the wrist. The watch is powered by an automatic movement, visible through a sapphire crystal case back, which provides a power reserve of approximately 40 hours. The dial is presented in a sunburst golden hue, complementing the warmth of the yellow gold case. A sapphire crystal protects the dial, ensuring clarity and scratch resistance.

This reference appeals to collectors interested in historically significant designs and integrated bracelet sports watches. It offers a distinct alternative within Vacheron Constantin's current offerings, providing a link to the brand's design evolution. The Historiques 222 is produced in a single material variant, emphasizing its direct connection to the original model's aesthetic. Its reintroduction underscores the enduring appeal of its design and its place in the lineage of luxury sports watches.

phenomenal on you. (It obviously goes perfectly with your wedding band, too.) Its strong vintage vibe and its crispness make this near irresistible in my opinion. Cheers Marc P.S. You wear it on the snug side, don't you?

I also prefer these type of watches with more casual attires. I would love to own one, although never seen one in the flesh. Enjoy it in the best health!

Looks great on your wrist. I agree that while not exactly under the radar, this reference does not scream look at me like other gold watches. Excellent choice.

Even though it’s a fully gold watch it is very sporty and goes better with casual, sportier, smart/chique attires very well imo. Ever since I saw this watch worn by bread pitt I realized that it’s a very versatile piece, I am aware that I am no bread pitt more like a bread pit but…. I’d like to have the same watch one day. Hope you have wonderful days wearing your watch
