Jp75, a discerning collector, shares his journey into the world of Vacheron Constantin, culminating in the acquisition of a Patrimony Traditionnelle Paris Limited Edition. His post offers a unique perspective on why this particular reference, with its deep connection to the 'City of Lights,' resonated with his personal history and appreciation for classic Genevan watchmaking. This article delves into his initial impressions and the community's insights on this exquisite timepiece.
As you might have read in my other posts, I have been looking more and more into Vacheron (&?) Constantin; and got to know the Patrimony Traditionelle line for what it represents: historic/classic inspired watched following the Genevan approach.
I further discovered that VC released a series of special editions for the opening of their Paris boutique on “rue de la Paix”.
Being born and grown-up in the city of lights, I always have this nostalgic inclination and look for things that reminds me of that time. I venture to say it is a tendency probably shared with many expats as well?
Therefore when I saw one of these VC traditionelle LE Paris coming up, I couldn’t resist!
Herewith my first impressions:
(1) it is my first colored metal watch; needed some getting used to, but I think it suits very well the model and its traditional style; forming a consistent package between form, color, size.
(2) The masterpiece is certainly the dial with its unique guilloche: at times the dial looks muted, nearly grey-old rose and one cannot see any structure. Then the light hits and one one suddenly discovers all the details and work that went into it. Very nice!
(3) the (dauphine?) hands are pieces of art themselves, half polished and half-frosted. Very legible even in poor lighting conditions (since there is obviously no lume).
(4) movement is nicely finished and I like looking at it with the loupe.
(5) small is beautiful: I was beforehand unsure about the size of 38mm, being concerned it might be feeling too small.
I’m standing corrected, the size is perfect and anything bigger would probably destroy the harmony. A good lesson learned for me that the size per-se is relative and that the aperture of the dial, size/shape of bezel and the overall thickness of the watch play a major role in how large we perceive a watch to be.
Altogether a worthy addition I’m very much happy to welcome to the family, both for its personal element and for its intrinsic beauty. A limited Edition fitting the city of lights love!

But this dial is over the top!! LOVE IT!! Wear it in the best of health.
you are most fortunate
... and I could not agree more about the size! 38mm is perfect, and the watch wears so well on the wrist, plus there's the added charm of the movt, as you've so rightly pointed out. The killer aspect of yours is, of couirse, the very lovely guilloche dial! Such a lovely LE, and congrats on your acquisition!
….is simply superb, in all of the dial versions. Your Paris LE is a special piece that lends it additional appeal! A true connoisseur‘s watch. Best, Daniel
Another picture for the pleasure of the eyes - works also well with casual shirt, me thinks Ps: will try to stop pestering/posting more pictures, for some days at least 🤭
Thanks for your comment; I considered your platinum version as well … if it hadn’t been for the special “link” to Paris would probably have gone for the platinum version or the Japanese LE. The platinum version is very special for sure, from the grey matte to the special heft! Wear it in good health!
