Christianch, a valued member of the WatchProSite community, shares his initial impressions of the Urwerk UR-100V UltraViolet. His review highlights the watch's distinctive aesthetics and wearability, offering a personal perspective on a timepiece that stands out in the independent horology landscape. This article delves into why the UltraViolet reference resonates with collectors and its unique place in a diverse collection.

Hi Everyone!

Thank you again for all your advice on my earlier post! I’m excited to share that I went with the Urwerk UR-100V UltraViolet 💜  and I thought I’d write a quick review for the forum!

The color is truly captivating—the violet titanium case is bold, distinctive, and beautifully finished. It’s paired with a white strap that adds a fresh and contemporary contrast. I love the white strap as it adds a strong contrast. I saw some photos of people using the black strap and it definitely becomes more boring!

One thing that has really stood out is how light and comfortable the watch is. Despite its striking design and presence on the wrist, it feels effortless to wear, and the 41mm size fits just right. The craftsmanship is, as expected from Urwerk, flawless, with every detail meticulously executed.

I chose the UltraViolet because I wanted something very different for my collection, and this watch delivers. While the LightSpeed was also amazing and the Scorpion an absolute masterpiece (if a bit outside my comfort zone price-wise), the UltraViolet felt like the right balance of uniqueness, wearability, and boldness. I think among the 3 the UltraViolet is definitely more WOW.

Overall, I couldn’t be happier. It’s an eye-catching yet surprisingly versatile addition to my collection.

What do you think? 💜😊

Best regards,

Christian

About the Urwerk UR-Satellite Ref. UR-100V

The UR-100V UltraViolet is a distinctive variant within Urwerk's UR-100V series, known for its satellite hour display system. This particular reference stands out due to its vibrant violet titanium case, which provides a bold aesthetic departure from more subdued material options often found in the line. It maintains the core design principles of the UR-100V, focusing on innovative time-telling and a contemporary form factor. The model emphasizes material and color as key elements of its identity.

The watch features a violet titanium case, precisely finished to highlight its unique color and texture. Powering the UR-100V UltraViolet is the self-winding caliber UR 12.02, which offers a power reserve of 48 hours. The case dimensions are 41mm in width, 49.7mm in length, and 14mm in thickness. A sapphire crystal protects the dial, ensuring clarity and durability. The movement's architecture is visible through an exhibition case back, revealing the intricate mechanics of the satellite display.

This reference appeals to collectors seeking a visually striking and technically advanced timepiece. Its limited production and specific colorway contribute to its desirability among enthusiasts of independent watchmaking. The UltraViolet variant reinforces Urwerk's commitment to exploring unconventional materials and finishes, positioning it as a notable piece within the brand's contemporary offerings and a conversation starter for those appreciative of avant-garde horology.

You didn't really think about it for that long. As I told you, like other purists, the colour combination is as challenging as it is fascinating. Pure admiration for your choice, I love Urwerk and their new designs. I think you'll soon start your journey with MB&F, it's just a matter of time.
