Nicolas (amanico) introduces the Tudor Black Bay Chrono, unveiled at Baselworld 2017, as a potentially significant release for Tudor. He provides initial specifications and invites the community to share their thoughts on this new 41mm steel chronograph featuring an in-house movement.

The Tudor Chronograph reference 7032 is distinguished by its fixed stainless steel bezel, setting it apart from its sibling reference 7031 which features a bakelite bezel. This particular reference is part of the early generation of Tudor chronographs, often recognized for its distinctive aesthetic elements that established the brand's independent design language within the chronograph category. It represents a significant step in Tudor's development of sports watches, moving beyond direct Rolex counterparts.
This chronograph is housed in a stainless steel case, typically measuring 39mm in diameter. It is powered by a manual-winding Valjoux 7734 caliber, known for its robust and reliable performance. The movement provides a power reserve of approximately 45 hours. The watch features a plexiglass crystal, contributing to its vintage appeal and period-correct specifications.
For collectors, the reference 7032 is a sought-after piece due to its specific bezel material and its place in the lineage of Tudor chronographs. It appeals to those who appreciate the subtle variations within a model family and the historical significance of early Tudor sports watches. While grey dials are noted, black dial versions also exist, offering collectors different aesthetic choices within this reference.
Rolex (oui disappointed)... I like the dial & uncluttered aspect, but we both will agree on this... thr unwanted date window... Best, mahesh.,
why have a date? why so much text above the date? not sure about the snowflake hour hand but ok, signature... screw pushers and crown look great to me. on the contrary, price point very appealing. 200m water resistance is super, but wish some better swim strap options included. Not sure the ones on picture are great on the beach but perhaps I am wrong... will I buy it in this iteration, unlikely but I am sure they will sell lots of these regardless! Bravo Tudor for filling that price segment wit
I think it looks weird, even a bit ugly. Need to see it in real to judge better. I normally don't care about date windows, but this one looks really out of place.
And to be honest I find a date really useful. will have to see it in the metal when it comes out but I certainly find it an interesting mix of styles (pushers and bezel very old school Tudor with the addition of the snowflake hand regards Tim
then i've realized it was really another brand.
They're up to what, 10? Black Bay variations now? BB 36 BB 41 BB red BB blue BB black BB dark BB bronze BB steel with date BB two-tone with date BB chrono Did I miss any?
