I enjoy it. People who do not care about watches. Mostly they answered me like this. I can not deal with a strap. I do not want a slave of time. My smartphone have a clock. What is the fun part is when people are stubborn watch haters for years and suddenly make a 180° turn and fall in love with that je ne sais quoi ( he would never admit that though). One question Weems: why wouldn’t you buy a watch from your friend at all? That could be a great opportunity to have access to a watch trader. That is if he’s a good one of course.
Not a bad question. He is a flee market detective. The great thing is, he find rare collectables. He know i buy brand new watches. So his goal is to turn me on to a vintage watch enthusiast. If this would be achieved? We’ll see, there are some vintage watches i have on the eye. But if he can find me a Mineva or an Universal Geneva, that would be my first vintages. Coming Saturday i will ask him to search for it.

I have the same and for many years I was not interested in vintage watches at all. I just couldn’t see the point. It is an acquired taste I would say and I respect that you might never get there. I think it’s a fantastic way to diversify the hobby and get some historical perspective into collecting.
