Tyo's original post offers a candid look into the often-frustrating journey of acquiring a Patek Philippe Aquanaut Ref. 5167. His personal narrative, detailing years of admiration and a 15-month waitlist at the Paris Salon, resonates with many collectors navigating the contemporary luxury watch market. This article synthesizes community insights, providing valuable context on Patek Philippe's allocation process and the unique challenges faced by collectors in certain regions.

Patek Philippe Aquanaut Reference 5167
The Reference 5167 represents the 40mm stainless steel iteration within Patek Philippe's Aquanaut model line. Introduced in 2007 and remaining in current production, this reference features a black dial and establishes the standard sizing for the steel Aquanaut offering.
The 40mm stainless steel case houses the automatic Caliber 324 S C movement, providing 45 hours of power reserve. The watch incorporates a sapphire crystal and smooth bezel configuration. Water resistance extends to 120 meters, while the distinctive composite rubber strap displays an embossed check pattern that complements the case design.
This reference appeals to collectors seeking contemporary Patek Philippe sports watch execution in stainless steel. The 5167 offers entry into the Aquanaut model range while maintaining the manufacturing standards associated with the Geneva manufacture. Its ongoing production status ensures availability through authorized channels for both new collectors and those expanding existing collections.
I fits your wrist perfect, thats for sure.
The wait is the best part
Definitely a good choice. Best, V.
patience and passion will pay off soon !
I don't even want to imagine the trouble it would be to serve an ENTIRE nation with just 1 boutique which always puzzles me since the surrounding EU countries have multiple locations and are less populated 🤷♂️🤦♂️ Don't know what else to tell you besides it will take an extreme amount of patience. I know of several people still waiting for certain pieces for several years now and they have already purchased multiple watches from the Paris salon 🤷♂️
What I realistically hope will change as far as France goes, is having one or two other Patek ADs, especially now that Wempe Paris is out of the scene... This is obviously not the right time, but after the world reopens, I wouldn't mind to e.g. have one AD on the Cote d'Azur. Not sure my friend ADs across the border will be enthusiastic about the idea, but giving at least a shot at that region of France might be a nice reward to the collectors there... ;-) Cheers.
