SALMANPK introduces Tayeb Boussalia, the self-taught French-Algerian watchmaker behind Radcliffe Watches, tracing his evolution from an architect to an innovative horologist. This post showcases Boussalia's diverse creations, from 70s Japanese-inspired chronographs to complex chiming regulators and the collaborative Vertixphere X1, highlighting his journey of skill development and design exploration.

I discovered about Tayeb Boussalia when researching the Amy Eujeny AE TN002. You can see that post here

www.watchprosite.com /

He is a French Algerian self taught watchmaker based in Oxford, England who has a background as an Architect and Civil Engineer. His Passion for Horology made him quit his Corporate Job and explore design and watch mechanics. He's been successfully launching his watches on kickstarter since 2021 and started Radcliffe Watches in the Fall of 2025.

He loves 70s Japanese watches which inspired his first watch the Haxel Chronograph powered by the 1901 Sea Gull Movement.

And then the 39mm M-DVR Dive Watch powered by a Miyota 9075 "True GMT" movement with a rotating disk under the dial that changes the hour markers (indices) and switches them between white and red.

As his confidence in his abilities grew and had access to specialized suppliers he started taking on more complicated challenges.

His Next Watch the MB&F Inspired Le Dome, 40mm case powered by a Seiko NH38.

In 2024 he released his 40mm Miyota powered Upside Down Watch, the thing to note here is the Box Sapphire which he will use on a later watch.

At the end of last year he released his 40mm, Miyota powered Chiming Regulator with a Flinqué Enamel Dial.

His meeting with Eugene Kim was fortuitous indeed as he would take all that he had learned combined with the watchmaking expertise of Amy Eujeny and create the wonderful Vertixphere X1.

A Good Chef takes Great Ingredients and Makes Great Dishes, a Great Chef takes ordinary ingredients and elevates them to Greatness. I feel Tayeb Boussalia has just finally begun his haute horology journey and am excited to see what amazing new watch he creates next.
