HSTE conducts a fascinating experiment with his limited edition Sinn U2C Einsatzzeitmesser, testing its extreme temperature resistance by freezing it in water for 24 hours at -22°C. This post not only showcases the watch's robust engineering but also sparks a lively community discussion about the durability and practical limits of modern tool watches. His findings offer unique insights into real-world performance beyond manufacturer specifications.
....it says in the specs that a) the watch is fine to 2000m under water and it also says the watch is fine to minus 45 degrees Celsius temparatures.
In that respect, this was actually a walk in the sunshine for my watch: it was only in a glass bowl (ca. 0-30mm below water) and in minus 22 degrees C for almost 24 hours.
The result: it still works in frozen stage although it is too slow by some 40 minutes. And it is a "cool" subject for pictures.
By the way: Sinn U2C Einsatzzeitmesser from 2015. Only 50 of them were made.
Cheers, HSTE

HSTE, Thanks for your dedication to scientific proof and method. My takeaway is that if you are stuck in extreme cold with this watch, Death approaches but slower.... Excellent! Regards, MTF
But you forgot one! 😉 Best wishes Alkiro
That's the craziest thing that I saw here, outperforming Nicolas (I believe) that dropped a watch on a glass of beer. Cheers, Nilo
Bravo to the watch, and to the brave you!
Kidding, of course. Very cool photos came out of this experiment. And nice to see Sinn still functioning.
Thanks for your feedback. Cheers, HSTE
