Pkonos introduces the Seiko Prospex Land 'Navigator Timer' Mechanical GMT Limited Edition SPB411J1, affectionately nicknamed 'homely' by a friend. Despite its humble moniker, pkonos highlights its steadfast reliability, impressive accuracy, and user-friendly GMT and date adjustments, making it a compelling daily wearer.
Calling this charmer of a watch by its official name (Seiko Prospex Land ‘Navigator Timer’ Mechanical GMT Limited Edition SPB411J1) is quite a mouthful, so the other day a good friend of mine christened it much more succinctly as “homely.”
I had a good laugh at that, as I couldn’t have agreed with him more, but the piece has been what perhaps homely does best -- reliable, simple, unobtrusive.
Turns out pleasingly accurate, too. The 72-hour power reserve Caliber 6R54 inside has been ticking along at +1 sec/day.
The GMT and date functions are adjusted by turning the crown either clockwise or counterclockwise.

Is it a screw down crown? I suspect not, just curious as I still don't have a gmt.
And like you say, a watch reminding us of different times - in a good way! Maybe I do need to visit the local Seiko dealer after all 🤞🏻
No, no screw down crown but still a reasonable 10 bar W.R. The watch's bezel and case profile kind of reminds of your cool Doxa !
Different times indeed -- this model's design is from Seiko's archives and is a dead ringer for Seiko's first GMT with rotating bezel that was introduced in 1968.
Two Olympic chronographs and a world timer. Lost all three 🤷🏻♂️ And luckily this is a well executed one - some of their reimagining of the past has been hit and miss lately 🤷🏻♂️
I'm not very familiar with vintage Seikos, but this Worldtimer does look quite nice image from the web
