Benlee338's initial post on the Romain Gauthier Insight Micro-Rotor Squelette sparked a lively debate among collectors regarding its value proposition and the brand's positioning. This article delves into the community's nuanced perspectives on high-horology independents, exploring the tension between exceptional finishing, perceived innovation, and customer experience. It highlights how collectors weigh these factors when considering a significant acquisition in the independent watchmaking space.

especially the high pricing bit! I always ask myself what else can one buy for that amount of money
Great finishing, but for the money I'd also want a significant complication.
With that kinda money I’ll buy a 911 ;-)
I go out of my way to support independents, but 250 hours of finishing or not, this is a lot of support RG is asking! I also am wary of RG customer service. So it's not just what else I could be buying, but what else I could be supporting.
