Nicolas (amanico) brings us a first look at the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Celebration dial, a watch that sparked immediate conversation at Watches and Wonders 2023. His initial reaction, a mix of surprise and delight, perfectly captures the polarizing yet captivating nature of this unexpected release from a traditionally conservative brand. This article explores the community's diverse reactions to Rolex's bold design choice.

When I discovered it in Geneva, at Watches and Wonders, I first thought of a joke... Then I checked on the Rolex Forum, and no, not a joke, it exists!

When it comes to such a conservative brand like Rolex, I love when they come off the beaten paths and offer something fun, crazy, original. This one ticks all these cases.

Celebration, because it recalls all the dial colors of the Oyster Perpetual a few years ago.

Not sure I wouldn't get tired of it, after some time, but I congratulate Rolex for such a touch of Madness.

Best,

Nicolas

That is precisely the point for me -- a conservative brand like Rolex that occasionally offers something "crazy" and playful, especially at a time when the world BADLY needs more joy, color, and fun! :-)

Of course, I'm sure that only the top/most well connected Rolex collectors (which I am not! ) will be able to get an allocation, given the huge demand we can expect for these pieces....but my girlfriend and I will probably ask some ADs this summer (36 and 41mm would be perfect! ;-) Cheers.

I have a soft spot for the 36 mm, I must admit.

my AD promised me a 36 for my wife

as he cannot source a 36 in turquoise for her so late in the production cycle...
