Some time ago, we had been having a little discussion topic about watches, that we had letting go.
Some of us even " confessed" having got some watches that initially had been destined
to leave..
This is a little story of a modern Rolex, a modest Date- Just, which I once had bought,
as I liked black/ white dial and alternating Date- colors for even and uneven days..
Although I liked that watch, but somehow she did not get enough wristtime,
so she departed, also to in-part fund some other acquisitions.
- I made that decision without considering another possibility for use in the family,
and specifically maybe for my wife, who until now, never has been into Rolex,
as she wears some JLC's and Cartiers for theatre and opera..
But when casually discussing about collectibles, which pretty early-on leave us again,
but somehow jump back into memory and into our heart..
- it turns out, that she would have loved to try that model,
(36 mm, but wearing smaller due to the"Tuxedo" dial).
But gone the watch was...
The next days we deliberated a bit, also about a " lost opportunity"..
Realizing, how much my wife would appreciate this watch, I decided:
- she had to be brought back !
And therefore, after hunting quite a bit, due to a lucky coincidence after some 18 months,
I indeed found a NIB sample again. - The AD, whom I knew, when being told my story
of a watch, that needs to return to her former home, made me a very good deal..
Thus, great to have found the piece again, and that even before Xmas;
so that acquisition would make a very nice present.
- And hence, it was happening, as hoped.

The arrival of the new Datejust - A little homecoming
My wife absolutely loves the piece and wears her frequently, especially when more casual
activities are done.
This In addition to her Reverso and a very nice vintage JLC 159)..
It is mainly the low- key appeal, the Rolex robustness, but also just with that
nifty tad of "extravaganza", of the two- colored " Tuxedo" dial
and the nice alternating color date, by a " Roulette" Date disc
So, here just the short pictorial with some pics, about a watch that needed
to go back to her owner(s), but under a " new flag "..
To me it shows, that although, normally, when I have decided to depart from a piece,
I unlikely would re- try to get her back.
But in some cases, when the equation and appeal change, everthing is possible...
Thus, here without further delay and ado, here are the pics,

Really a nice fit.. Strong enough, yet feminine as well
Hope you liked the little saga, how sometimes our tic-tacs can re- conquer
our hearts, and/or the heart of someone, close to us..

Best, hs
( also on behalf of my dear wife, sending her greetings !)

PS: And where does this end ? - Yes, indeed you guessed right :
the relaxed "fin d'action" was with a good cup of coffee

One way to end a lazy stroll..
