Perpetually Purists 2009 New York City

Dear friends,

I am honored to present the second annual Perpetually Purists get-to-together in New York City!

As some of you may remember, last year the event was held at the opulent Grand Havana Room. Out of respect for the current economic situation, the 2009 event was held at a more tuned down, but very cozy Italian restaurant in midtown - Trattoria Trecolori.

Outside look of the venue...

Due to an omnipresent and malicious flu that is currently sweeping through New York and knocking down New Yorkers by the thousands, many people who have previously committed several weeks ago had to cancel at the last minute.

For those that showed up, we got to see some very interesting pieces...

Although not a perpetual calendar, this is something that we don't see often - a Kari Voutilainen Observatoire in White Gold.

A closer look at the beautiful hand-guilloche pattern on the dial...

Some wrist shots of the guests. I apologize for the shots being upside down as it was difficult to get across the table.

Lange Moonphase in Platinum.

Blancpain Leman Big Date

Two FP Journe's were present. ..

Octa Reserve in Platinum.

Calendrier in Rose Gold.

Yours truly with a JLC perpetual calendar in Rose Gold.

Of course, we should not forget our cheerleader of the group - the lovely Angela with her vintage Patek.

Now the table shot...

Notice that in the bottom right corner is a  special edition Blancpain Flyback Chronograph with vintage yellow Arabic numerals and hands.

Thanks for a great time guys. Hope to see more of you soon. For those of you who couldn't make it, we sincerely wish you a speedy recovery!

Truly yours,

Jon (Z3)

Jon, Thank you for your report. Despite the fact that I was already in bed, perhaps 100 ft away from the venue, I had to miss. My perpstual was being serviced, but I wish I could have joined. Let us try to catch up soon. And, congratulations on your appointment as a moerator here! Ken

...is particularly special, having regard to the orientation of the numerals. This is perhaps the only one without radially aligned numerals - not that any version of the Observatoire isn't compelling - and probably one of the few which combines sunburst guilloche with Arabics. A very intelligent specification by the fortunate owner - congratulations again. Thanks for the coverage Z3, and all the best for your time as a moderator. Cheers, pplater.
