Kong's photo-essay from 2010 showcases Piaget's exceptional tourbillon timepieces, including rare high jewelry and limited-edition models. This article highlights Piaget's mastery in complications and haute joaillerie, offering a detailed look at the craftsmanship and innovative designs that define these exclusive watches. Readers will appreciate the artistry and technical prowess behind these horological marvels.

4 June 2010,  Piaget showcased a few rare high jewellery and limited edition tourbillon pieces which are available for the first time in Singapore.

Below is the photo-essay of the marvellous tourbillons.

Starting with the unique Polo Tourbillon Relatif  New York
...

Housed in a 18K white gold case with ...

black 'grand feu' enamel dial with motifs (in 18K  WG)  inspired by the architecture of New York.
The hour is read off on the central disc with the Statue of Liberty crown.

The carriage of the tourbillon of Piaget 608P seems to suspended  and share the same plane  as the minute-hand .  The carriage consists of 42 parts and weigh only 0.2 grams and spins on its axis once every 60 seconds, thus double-up as the 'second-hand' with "P" for the Piaget initial.
The 608P calibre beats at 21,600 VPH and has a big power reserve of 70 hours.

The marvel of  this worldwide only 2-piece wonder  continues ...

More detailed engravings on the sides of the caseband ...

The crown in white and yellow gold with a brillant-cut diamond is like a sun radiating over New York ...

A clearer view of the 'glowing sun crown' .

The landscape of NY was engraved on both sides of the caseband.  (Please note a layer of protective film on the engraved work)
otherwise the effect should be even more spectacular.

The engraving on the opposite side ...

Closed look ...

The layering effect is noticeable even with the film on ...

There is also a Polo Tourbillon Relatif - Paris version, limited to 3 in the world.

Another two variations of the Polo Tourbillon Relatif  which are Boutique Exclusives ...

18K WG case

With diamonds pavé on the bezel  (approx 2.3 ct) and hour indexes.

Signed crown and solid caseback.

A closer look at the flying tourbillon which has its centre of rotation at the centre of the movement executing one rotation per hour.

The massive solid gold minute-hand.

Last three pictures showed how the suspended  tourbillon appeared to be disconnected from the mechanism which drives it !

Next is the the 'Record-breaking' Tourbillons ...

The skeletonized Emperador with Calibre 600P, the world thinnest shaped tourbillon at 3.5mm thick which took Piaget three years
to develop and fine-tune.

Set with 160 brillant-cut diamonds and 7 cabochon-cut sapphires on the movement.
Approximate 40 hours of power reserve and beating at 21,600 VPH.

The 18K white gold case is set with 151 brillant-cut diamonds (approximate 2.4 ct).

A view from the caseback, a hand-wound movement, with a clear view of the barrel, gear-train and tourbillon.

A version of the skeletonized Emperado Tourbillon in yellow gold with power reserve indicator ...

The view without the diamonds.  Power reserve indicator at 6H.

Combination of polished and brushed finishing on the case.

Another variation of the Emperador Tourbillon in White Gold Case with power reserve ...

The non skeletonized models of the Emperador Tourbillon XL  ...

White gold case with 47 baguette cut diamonds (3.8 carats) and 448 brillant-cut diamonds (4.1 carats) with mother-of-pearl subdial
for the power reserve indicator.

A non-diamond version.

The ultimate luxury piece in the showcase ...the Super  Emperador XL ...

A watch in a watch in different level... Baguette-set diamonds on the full exterior except for the bezel of the 'first-watch'.

First level with its door open ... pure time.

Lifting  up the time-only layer ...

Its the Emperador Tourbillon  with a fully pave diamond dial with a layer of mother-of-pearl for the power reserve indicator.

Housing the hand-wound Caliber 600P.  The siglet 'P' is specially blued for this unique piece.

Pave diamond caseback !

The clasp seemed to be one half with pave diamond and the other with baguette diamonds.

Last but not least, the Emperador XL with Moonphase with Caliber 640P.

Thanks for viewing.

Being in the same room with all those terrific tourbillons just turned my head! It was momentous because it was highly unusual to have all those pieces in one room anywhere in the world. MTF

I am constantly wowed by Piaget's amazing construction and gem-setting. These timepieces showcase incredible technique and facility with jewelry setting/finish. I am so envious that you got to be in a room with all these watches at the same time. How many people can say that?! Cheers, Daos

My question about these watches, doesn't the promenance of the tourbillon of the Emperador make it hard to read the time? I don't see much contrast between the hands and the dial. How does it work in reality? Don

Hi Don Thanks for viewing. Though the hands do not provide much contrast, time reading is easy, even on the full pave dial. Viewing at a tilt angle helps a lot too. Kong
