Piaget reiterates its support for Only Watch 2013

PIAGET 2013 Only Watch

The Manufacture de Haute Horlogerie Piaget has reiterated its support for research into Duchenne muscular dystrophy by taking part in Only Watch for the fifth consecutive time. This charity auction of unique pieces will take place on 28th September 2013 in the context of the prestigious Monaco Yacht Show.

This exceptional event will be preceded by a travelling exhibition that will stop in destinations all over the world from 6th September onwards.

Some people have asked:  "Where are the 2010 and 2012 PIAGET Only Watch examples?

They don't exist because the charity auction is only held every two years under the Patronage of HRH Prince Albert II of Monaco. The Only Watch event exhibits unique watchmaking pieces especially designed for the occasion by the brands taking part, of which, there are 40 this year.

For this 5th Only Watch event, Piaget has interpreted its emblematic Altiplano Skeleton in a version that is as original as it is unique: the Piaget Altiplano 38mm Only Watch 2013 Skeleton 1200S . At the heart of this exceptional piece beats the world’s thinnest automatic openworked calibre– the 1200S – delicately hollowed out and for the first time treated to a black PVD finish.

Housing theses fine mechanical curves with a case that is also adorned in nocturnal colours for the occasion, the Piaget Altiplano 38mm Only Watch 2013 Skeleton 1200S is a concentrated blend of the most finely honed watchmaking skills in the world. It is both the world’s thinnest automatic openworked watch (5.34 mm) and the thinnest movement ever made in its category (2.40 mm). So as to highlight the distinctive nature of this creation, the rim of the case-back is engraved with the mention β€œOnly Watch 2013 – unique piece” .

By donating this unique piece to the Monaco Association against Muscular Dystrophy, Piaget is delighted to be able to contribute to research into Duchenne muscular dystrophy. This neuromuscular disease affects one boy in 3,500, and can be fatal. While the funds collected during the previous editions of Only Watch have already enabled scientific advances, the travelling exhibitions that precede the auction also provide an opportunity to raise awareness of this disease among the general public.

Consequently, this year, Only Watch will stop over in Singapore (September 6/7 – The Hour Glass), Hong Kong (September 9/10 – Antiquorum), Shanghai (September 12/13), Peking (September 14), New York (September 16/17 – Antiquorum), Geneva (September 23/24 – Antiquorum), and finally Monaco (September 25/26/27/28), with the auction as the high point, taking place on Saturday, September 28 at the prestigious Monaco Yacht Show.
