A few days ago, Deguiret, an independent brand, which specialises in Swiss Cloisonné Enamel watches, shared these very interesting photos of a wonderful unique piece made for our dear fellow member Roni Madhvani.

This dial is inspired by Persée et Andromède (Perseus and Andromeda), a bronze sculpture created circa 1928–1929 by French sculptor and medalist Raymond Delamarre (1890-1986) and part of the personal collection of Ronak Madhvani.

The sculpture depicts Perseus mounted on his horse Pegasus freeing Andromeda from the sea monster that is trying to devour her.

Each color is enamel, fired multiple times at around 850 °C.

Each contour is formed by a pure gold wire, bent and placed by hand.

The 316L stainless steel case features an 18k gold ring beneath the bezel and measures 37 x 8.6 (including domed sapphire) x 41.42 mm, with a 20 mm lug width.

Huge congratulations to Roni Madhvani and Deguiret for this wonderful timepiece!

Thanks for reading.

Best, Emmanuel

About the Horological Meandering Perseus & Andromeda

Horological Meandering's Perseus & Andromeda represents the brand's commitment to translating classical mythology into contemporary horological art. This piece forms part of their Mythology collection, where ancient Greek narratives are rendered through sophisticated dial work and artistic engraving techniques. The brand has established itself in the niche segment of narrative timepieces, drawing from literary and mythological sources to create watches that function as wearable storytelling devices.

The technical execution centers on a multi-layered dial construction featuring hand-engraved relief work depicting the mythological rescue scene. The golden base provides luminous contrast to the darkened figure work, while precise line engraving defines the characters of Perseus and Andromeda against stylized sea creatures. The absence of traditional hour markers integrates the timekeeping function seamlessly into the artistic composition, with sword-shaped hands serving both functional and thematic purposes. The case appears to be executed in rose gold with a classic round profile that frames the dial work without distraction.

As an independent manufacture specializing in artistic complications, Horological Meandering occupies a distinct position in the contemporary collecting landscape. The Mythology series appeals to collectors seeking alternatives to traditional grand complications, offering narrative complexity rather than mechanical intricacy. Production numbers for such specialized pieces typically remain limited, positioning them within the haute horlogerie segment for collectors who prioritize artistic execution and storytelling over industrial heritage or investment potential.

Perhaps consider submitting this to Horopedia, as perhaps they could help show the world how this artistic dial is hand crafted.

That’s incredible that they made this in a steel case👌🏽 Looking at their website, this is a very impressive and unique brand. All their offerings are in steel cases and are art renditions or themes like what Patek does, with additional option for custom orders. Thank you for sharing this interesting new brand.

I’ve been fortunate to see some of this work being done up close, and some of the other handcrafts, and it’s mind blowing. In the ideal, we would all have something like this in the collection.
