Here is the back story.

I know the WT is a Patek icon but it was never a "must have" for me. I have debated about getting a 5131P for a long time but never pulled the trigger. Maybe one day as that seems to be an eventuality ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿคฃ

So a month ago I attended a few GTGs in several different countries which allowed me to see and try on a few pieces I have not had a chance to see nor try on. One of them was a 5575G 75th Anniversary WT with the uber cool moonphase. I found the size to be perfect for my small wrist and really liked the case, especially the lugs. I spent the next few hours with this on my wrist and that was enough for me to realize I needed one in my collection.

Fast forward a few weeks and I was discussing with a good friend who is a fellow WPS member but also a member of our "secret gang" the Paris Watch Mafia ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

I knew he fell out of love with Patek and had this piece in his amazing collection. So we discussed and came to an agreement. I am honestly grateful to call Alex a friend as he is truly a gentleman and true watch lover for all the right reasons!!

Fast forward again to last week where I visited Alex for a nice lunch. Finally got to pick it up and happy to add it to my collection. The best part was keeping in the WPS and Paris Watch Mafia family ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜œ

Didn't know it at the time but this edition came with an UBER cool presentation box as well as several certificates and a cool Patek medallion. This one still flies under the radar for most which is another reason I find it even more compelling ๐Ÿ˜โœŒ๏ธ

BIG thanks to Alex for being a good friend and allowing me to take care of this amazing piece. I will definitely show it the love it deserves ๐Ÿ‘

And already Yokozuna approved ๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿฑ

About the Patek Philippe Ref. 5131

The Patek Philippe Complications reference 5131 is a World Time model, distinguished by its cloisonnรฉ enamel dial depicting a map of the world. This reference is part of a series that showcases Patek Philippe's expertise in both horological complications and traditional decorative arts, offering a functional travel watch with significant aesthetic appeal. It represents a continuation of the brand's long-standing tradition of producing World Time watches, updated with contemporary design elements and a self-winding movement. The 5131 is recognized for its intricate dial work, which varies depending on the specific metal and region depicted.

The watch features a 39.5mm case, available in various precious metals, housing the self-winding Caliber 240 HU. This movement provides a power reserve of 48 hours and drives the World Time complication, allowing the wearer to simultaneously view the time in 24 different time zones. The case is fitted with a sapphire crystal, ensuring durability and clear visibility of the detailed dial. Water resistance is rated at 30 meters, suitable for everyday wear. The fixed bezel frames the intricate dial, contributing to the watch's refined profile.

As a World Time model with a cloisonnรฉ dial, the 5131 appeals to collectors who appreciate both technical sophistication and artisanal craftsmanship. Its limited production and the unique hand-finished nature of each dial contribute to its desirability within the secondary market. The reference fits into Patek Philippe's Complications collection as a high-end travel watch, offering a distinctive alternative to more traditional time-only or chronograph models. Variants typically involve different precious metal cases and corresponding enamel map depictions.
