Miranda's exclusive photo essay from the OAK Collection exhibition offers a rare glimpse into some of Patek Philippe's most exceptional timepieces. Her personal favorites, captured with remarkable clarity, highlight unique dials, rare metals, and iconic references that captivated attendees. This article preserves Miranda's original perspective while enriching it with community insights, making these horological treasures accessible to a wider audience.

The Patek Philippe reference 570 is a classic Calatrava-style dress watch, representing a significant period in the brand's production of time-only pieces. It is distinguished by its clean lines and minimalist aesthetic, embodying the traditional design principles that Patek Philippe is known for in its non-complicated watches. The reference 570 was offered in various metals and dial configurations, making each example unique within the broader series of Patek Philippe's round cased watches from the mid-20th century.
This particular example features an 18k white gold case with a diameter of 38mm. It is fitted with a sapphire crystal, protecting a silver dial. The watch is powered by a manual wind movement, reflecting the common practice for high-end dress watches of its era. The water resistance is rated at 30 meters, typical for a watch of this type and period.
The reference 570 appeals to collectors seeking a pure expression of Patek Philippe's watchmaking heritage, particularly those interested in the brand's foundational dress watch designs. Its various iterations, including different case materials and dial finishes, offer a range of options for discerning collectors. The enduring appeal of the 570 lies in its understated elegance and its representation of a specific era of Patek Philippe's design philosophy.
That's one of my favorite objects of all time. I would pay a lot just to put it on my wrist for a minute.
Please watch the video they did for the collection. It doesnโt cover everything in the exhibition but provides a glimpse.
While Iโm at it, as your nitpicking senior moderator AND Math professor (!), let me also point out that the correct reference of the SPECTACULAR 175th Anniversary Rare Handcraft presented around minute 2:00 of the video is *5089G-021*, rather than 5189G-021 (just a slip of the tongue by one of the top Patek historians on this planet, N.F.. In fact, to the best of my knowledge, reference 5189 never existed)๐ Cheers.
To see these beautiful pieces is someone where you donโt get many opportunities in life.
blue is so WONDERFUL !
Thanks for sharing. I visited and walked around 3 times. The best exhibition I've been to. I have lots of pics but no where as good as yours. My iPhone struggled with the lighting and glass reflections.
