In this insightful post, WatchProSite contributor penfriend shares a firsthand account of visiting an authorized dealer to explore several new Patek Philippe references. His detailed impressions of the 6159G, the green Cubitus, and the new 5990 offer valuable perspectives for collectors considering these models. Penfriend's candid assessment highlights the importance of trying on watches in person, as his expectations for certain references were significantly altered by the physical experience.
To see the 6159G and I was rather underwhelmed. It wears small and with my eyesight I wasn’t able to read any of the numerals nor could I really see much of the calibre through the dial. I really thought this would be an addition this year but presumably I will decline.
The green cubitus is ok on my wrist but I am still struggling with the shape.
And the 5990 is a monster compared to my regular 5990. It wasn’t spoken for and I could have left the boutique with it - but I cannot imagine a single occasion to wear it outside of the house…
So my wife seems to be the winner as she will go for the new blue 7010G…. Lucky her 😅
