In a significant development for Patek Philippe collectors, @ChumpTime shares a first look at the updated clasp on his new Nautilus 5990/1A. This post explores the subtle yet impactful design evolution, prompting a community discussion on its broader implementation across the Nautilus and Aquanaut lines. @ChumpTime's discovery highlights Patek Philippe's continuous refinement of its iconic sports watches.
Picked up a 5990/1A yesterday and was pleasantly surprised to find it being fitted with a new clasp looking like that which was introduced with the 5740/1G (and previously also on ladies models). I knew that 5980/1R and 5990/1R had these but 5990/1A still has the old clasp on the PP website..
Anyone know if this is the clasp all new Nautilus are fitted with nowadays? And it should really be possible to do a retrofit on those with old clasps too, right? Reference is unchanged, 5990/1A-001.
