Small-luxury-world's post beautifully pairs the Patek Philippe Nautilus Ref. 3700 with a Porsche 911, both from 1976, exploring the concept of a 'dream team' beyond just watches. This discussion delves into how collectors match their timepieces with other luxury items, considering factors like era, style, and personal significance. The author invites the community to reflect on what constitutes their ultimate pairings, sparking a lively debate on complementary aesthetics and shared passions.

Dream Team – What is important/matters for you?
The PP 3700, when it was introduced back in 1976 it was one of the most expensive watches in steel and you could even wear it in the swimming pool.

What was/is missing to make it a dream team?
Does it need a “matching” watch for the wrist of your lady? A great example we have seen a few days ago, by lac2s:

Does it need something else …?

I am talking (if you don´t mind) about the Ferrari Dino from 1976, of
course
Another car/sports car from 1976?

… or something more humble, because the watch is already expensive enough …

If we talk about a matching Porsche 911, does it have to be from 1976 or is it more important to have a matching color?

A Targa from 1976 or an even nicer one from 1975 with appropriate “special order” color …

If we talks about matching clothes and shoes – today. What is appropriate with such a watch on your wrist?

If we talk about matching watches with the same kind of spirit. What comes to your mind?

We are still talking about dream teams.
Is it more important to have the matching box and papers?

Are you even/more interested in some matching playing cards (Quartett,
we call it in Germany
) from
1976?

The watch on your wrist is enough to make it a dream team?
…
Once we discussed all options (you & me have in mind) we
could ask similar questions about current production watches like the Nautilus 5711
…
Dream Team – What is important/matters for you?
Side note : Please, don´t take it too serious. It was just a “finger exercise” at a rainy Saturday – nothing more nothing less.
HAGWE,
Oliver
The Patek Philippe reference 5711/1A-011, part of the Complications collection, is distinguished by its white dial, offering a different aesthetic compared to other dial variations within the 5711 series. This particular configuration provides a clean and legible presentation, appealing to collectors who prefer a more understated yet refined look. It represents a specific iteration of a well-known Patek Philippe model, recognized for its integrated design.
The watch features a 40mm stainless steel case, housing the self-winding Caliber 26-330 SC movement. This movement provides a power reserve of 45 hours. The case is fitted with a sapphire crystal, contributing to its water resistance of 120 meters. The fixed bezel and integrated bracelet are characteristic elements of its construction.
This reference appeals to collectors interested in the evolution of Patek Philippe's offerings, particularly those seeking specific dial colors within established model lines. Its production run from 2019 to 2021 marks it as a relatively recent, yet now discontinued, variant. The watch's specifications align with Patek Philippe's standards for mechanical timepieces.
Fun post and subject Oliver! I think your dream team of the nautilus and the 911 works very well together. I'd dare say that they are each the most versatile variant of a sports model. The nautilus would work with virtually the entire wardrobe you pictured and the 911 would not look out of place at a shopping centre (heck I have even seen a 911 with a trailer hook once :D) I have my own little team of 1997 car and watch - both convertibles. Need to take some team pictures... Have a great Saturda
... reminds me that i have a weakness for both Carrera's and nautilus! You've just opened new ideas to me... Will dig some of the pics i have and post later.
Brings back memories. Cars I had around then: Detomaso Pantera GTS, Lacia Beta Monte Carlo, Fiat 124 Coupe, 280 slc among others. Thanks Bill PS thank you to your happy fingers - we have a sunny day
After all, aren't they Toys for Boys, par excellence? I would rather see a more square or angular car, like a Longchamp, or something like that. More seventies, to sum my thought up... Best, Nicolas
I like the styling trend from this period. Sometime a little bit "too much" but with character obviously. For sure my watches would be "married" to cars. I guess it is the more direct link with watches. But your example is really well chosen as time has made them iconic. Difficult to choose, today, something already looked as icons. Thanks for this funny topic before nightnight Oliver Cheers, Mark
1976 was a good year. The shoes are delightful too! Best Wishes Mally
