We continue our tour...

You are now entering the Napoleon room...

The most impressive room of the Geneva salon on Rue de Rhone is the Napoleon room.  It is a richly appointed room with beautiful furniture, embossed, burnt, and gold leaf applied leather wallpaper.  For the Grand Exhibition, the room has been reproduced.

Patek Philippe even installed TVs with a video of Geneva as seen from their building on Rue de Rhone.

Now, presenting the novelties of the 2017 Patek Philippe Grand Exhibition New York, for a dedicated report, please go to Mark's report here:

Close up of the dial.  Notice, a United States City is noted for every city possible on the dial.

The back can show either the movement or a special dedication with a special Patek Philippe New York engraving.

The side of the case has pierced lugs and a hobnail case band.  The lugs are a separate part that is specially polished and later attached to the case.  This is done so the hobnail can be completely uninterrupted, even as it passes under the lugs the four times in its total case circumference.

The Patek Philippe Calatrava Pilot watch is an early favorite.

WorldTimes are a definitive part of this set of 2017 Novelties.  The ladie's version looks great and very evening appropriate.

Notice the dial of this WorldTime also US Cities whenever possible as well.

Which one is your favorite?  I know mine.

About the Patek Philippe Ref. 5531

The Patek Philippe Reference 5531 is distinguished as a World Time Minute Repeater, a highly complex combination of two of Patek Philippe's signature complications. It was initially introduced as a limited edition, highlighting both the brand's technical prowess in horology and its artistic application of métiers d'art, specifically cloisonné enamel work on the dial, depicting urban landscapes.

The case of the 5531 measures 40.20 mm in diameter and 11.49 mm in thickness, crafted in rose gold. It is powered by the self-winding Caliber R 27 HU, an integrated movement that allows the minute repeater to chime the local time as indicated by the world time function. The watch features a sapphire crystal.

This reference appeals to collectors seeking Patek Philippe's high complications combined with unique artistic dials. The initial release in 2017 featured two distinct cloisonné enamel dial variants, each depicting a Manhattan skyline, one in a daytime scene and the other at night, further enhancing its exclusivity and collector appeal within the grand complication series.

The night version of the NYC view is better for me. More colours used and that rare expensive yellow enamel pigment. Regards, MTF

They chose a nice scenery for the new collection. The ladies "mother of pearl" dials are very charming and very feminine. Very good choice for a casual outfit. But these 5531 models... I could spend a long time admiring them. Thank you for another nice room visit Best, Mark

I'm not only surprised by the complication movement and the dial. But the hobnail case with pierced lugs was a surprise as well. I find myself really drawn to the case. The lugs are pierced and appear to float over the hobnail, this was done specifically to avoid an interruption in the hobnail design. Even the minute repeater slide is made of two separate pieces so the hobnail decoration could be achieved without the design getting in the way.
