GLau, a respected member of the WatchProSite community, shares an exclusive look into a recent Patek Philippe collector gathering. This article delves into the 'green dial' theme that united an impressive array of timepieces, offering readers a glimpse into the camaraderie and horological passion that defines these private events. GLau's photo essay captures the essence of a memorable evening, highlighting both iconic references and spirited discussions.

special secret hideout was so much fun 🤩!

After many months since the last one, theme for this GTG was “green” dials as in “green with envy” during the festive season !

As usual, I contributed the least and enjoyed the most !  Fellow PuristS brought some heavy hitter steel pieces.  The food was great at the “Men’s Cave”, and we paired wonderful French 🇫🇷 wines with Cup Noodles !🤣

In addition to talking about watches and the watch market, our discussions covered many other topics such as World and local politics, Ai, family matters, etc.  Overall a wonderful and meaningful evening 👍

Which of the above pieces sing(s) to you ?  Personally I love the 5980G & Cubitus green (with envy) 😃

Quite a line up of wines and watches

Cup noodles 🍜 was the last food item consumed

The “green with envy” duo 🤣

What a trio !

Great wrist presence from 5905 steel

This 5980G is lovely !😊

Love the green dial but size is too big for me 😓

What a great duo 👍

Superb contrast between these two

My contribution to the “green” theme with  green continents of my 5131J 🤣

About the Patek Philippe Ref. 5131

The Patek Philippe Complications reference 5131 is a World Time model, distinguished by its cloisonné enamel dial depicting a map of the world. This reference is part of a series that showcases Patek Philippe's expertise in both horological complications and traditional decorative arts, offering a functional travel watch with significant aesthetic appeal. It represents a continuation of the brand's long-standing tradition of producing World Time watches, updated with contemporary design elements and a self-winding movement. The 5131 is recognized for its intricate dial work, which varies depending on the specific metal and region depicted.

The watch features a 39.5mm case, available in various precious metals, housing the self-winding Caliber 240 HU. This movement provides a power reserve of 48 hours and drives the World Time complication, allowing the wearer to simultaneously view the time in 24 different time zones. The case is fitted with a sapphire crystal, ensuring durability and clear visibility of the detailed dial. Water resistance is rated at 30 meters, suitable for everyday wear. The fixed bezel frames the intricate dial, contributing to the watch's refined profile.

As a World Time model with a cloisonné dial, the 5131 appeals to collectors who appreciate both technical sophistication and artisanal craftsmanship. Its limited production and the unique hand-finished nature of each dial contribute to its desirability within the secondary market. The reference fits into Patek Philippe's Complications collection as a high-end travel watch, offering a distinctive alternative to more traditional time-only or chronograph models. Variants typically involve different precious metal cases and corresponding enamel map depictions.

Patek did right in introducing the Cubitus. It goes smack on agaisnt an RM. Gives a collector a choice. Just my opinion. Geross.

Nice collection of watches and owners 👍 for me, in pictures, the cubits is a miss. The larger size and boxy style look less refined for me. I’m sure current buyers are thrilled however.
