Dje, a Patek Philippe moderator, challenges the community to find glamorous associations for Patek Philippe watches, moving beyond the brand's reputation for being 'perfectly cold.' Inspired by Elle Macpherson with her Aston Martin DB5 Volante, the author seeks images of celebrities passionately wearing Patek Philippe chronographs, perpetual calendars, or repeaters. This post aims to inject 'hot' linking and desire into the perception of these esteemed timepieces.

Hi,

We've read much about a celebrity loosing Patek Philippe chronographs in hotel rooms (I don't want to name him) in circomstances I don't wish to recall.

Have we heard about more glamorous appearance of Patek Philippe pieces?

This morning I was looking at an old French car magazine and saw a very beautiful picture of Elle Mc Pherson (the body) with her own Aston Martin DB5 Volante (the beauty) and I thought that a Patek Philippe 5970P (or a 3970 or 5004 or 5959 or 5950,...)  would have been perfect on her wrist in such situation.

In fact I think Patek Philippe has become so cultissim, so perfect and sometimes perfectly cold that I feel it needs to get some "hot" linking!

Am I wrong?

I'm asking you here to post any relationship you remember of with any glamorous celeb or star or whatever.

I'm not looking for references, but for demonstrations of passion by people who can choose whatever watch they want.

Of course if you can offer positive choices that would be better.....

Obviously Patek Philippe chronographs, especially manual wind ones, are the obvious choice in the range as they are the pieces that seems to appeal more, to have the highest level of fans.

I would accept repeaters too, but only because they are nice pieces too.

If you can offer perpetual calenders wearers to our view don't hesitate, but choose them well!

Some may have objected that I choose an Aston Martin with a Patek Philippe while the car brand is associated with Jaeger-LeCoultre. Sure!

But I'm the Patek Philippe moderator (even if I love Jaeger-LeCoultre at least as much as PP) and the Duometre is a bit too modern to fit with an AML DB5!

A vintage Rolex Daytona could fit too, but Rolex watches are tools for me and the DB5 is not!

Of course you may object that the real car owner may not be as glamorous as the body driver. But we all have a chance.

You may also consider that a Patek Philippe chronograph does not have to be glamorous. It may not have to, but it may be, no?

I realize that I'm asking much and I may get no answer. Please let me hope!

Here is a shot to remind you what a Patek Philippe chronograph is:

So let's hunt now! Please bring back some shots. Make us desire the timepiece!

Good luck.

About the Patek Philippe Grand Complications Ref. 3970

The Patek Philippe reference 3970 is a perpetual calendar chronograph, a complication central to the brand's heritage. It succeeded the highly regarded reference 2499 and served as a bridge to the later reference 5970. The 3970 was produced over an extended period, allowing for several series and subtle variations in its design, making it a significant model for collectors interested in the evolution of Patek Philippe's complicated wristwatches.

This reference features a 36mm case, commonly found in 18k white gold, yellow gold, rose gold, and platinum. It is powered by the manual-wind caliber CH 27-70 Q, based on a Lemania รฉbauche, which offers a power reserve of 60 hours. The watch is fitted with a sapphire crystal, protecting a dial that typically includes subdials for the chronograph, perpetual calendar displays, and moon phases.

The 3970 appeals to collectors seeking a classic Patek Philippe perpetual calendar chronograph with a traditional aesthetic and a historically important movement. Its long production run from 1986 to 2004 means that examples from different series, such as the first, second, and third, exhibit minor differences in dial layout and case details, providing distinct collecting opportunities within the reference.

WoW ....

Elle Macpherson should do something about her hairy wrist !! A very thorough wax JOB is in serious need.
