In a delightful pre-Christmas surprise, WatchProSite member cayenne1200 shares the story of an unexpected acquisition that captured his heart. While accompanying a friend, cayenne1200 encountered a Patek Philippe Calatrava Ref. 5196P that instantly resonated with his aesthetic preferences. His initial post and subsequent replies offer a personal look at the allure of this elegant timepiece.

The Patek Philippe Aquanaut reference 5168 represents the 42.2mm white gold iteration within the Aquanaut collection. Distinguished by its larger case size and precious metal construction, this reference occupies a premium position in the Aquanaut lineup, offering an elevated take on the model's contemporary aesthetic.
The 42.2mm case is crafted in 18k white gold and houses the automatic caliber 324 S C movement, providing a 45-hour power reserve. The black dial is protected by sapphire crystal, while the smooth bezel maintains the model's clean profile. Water resistance extends to 120 meters, and the watch is completed with a composite strap featuring a fold-over clasp.
In production since 2017, the reference 5168 appeals to collectors seeking a modern Patek Philippe sports watch in precious metal. The white gold construction and jumbo sizing distinguish this reference from smaller or steel variants within the Aquanaut range, positioning it as a substantial contemporary option for those favoring larger case proportions.
The perfect mix of tradition and modernity. Big congrats to you, you made an excellent choice 👍👏👏
One of my absolute favorite Calatravas.
PS: Looks like you tried to upload 5 or 6 pictures but they don't appear, if you repost them below I'll take care of them ;-)
Also, the dial has a wonderful 3-dimensional design to it which I prefer over the other the G, R and J.
...I've always wanted this same watch but with a 240 or other ultra-thin movement.
enjoy her in great health cheers
