About the Patek Philippe Calatrava Ref. 3558

The Patek Philippe Reference 3558 is a self-winding wristwatch that exemplifies the brand's approach to understated luxury in the mid-20th century. It is characterized by its clean lines and a focus on mechanical precision, offering a date complication within a refined case. This reference is part of a series of automatic timepieces from Patek Philippe that provided reliable daily wear with sophisticated internal mechanisms. Its design reflects a period when watch aesthetics favored simplicity and functional elegance.

This particular reference features an 18k white gold case, measuring 38mm in diameter. It is powered by the automatic caliber 27-460 M, known for its robust construction and accuracy. The movement provides a power reserve of 42 hours. A sapphire crystal protects the silver dial, which typically displays a date aperture. The watch is water-resistant to 30 meters, suitable for everyday wear.

For collectors, the Reference 3558 represents a significant example of Patek Philippe's automatic watch production during its era. Its solid white gold construction and the presence of the respected 27-460 M caliber make it a desirable piece for those appreciating vintage Patek Philippe automatics. The rounded bezel contributes to its balanced aesthetic, appealing to collectors who value classic proportions and discreet luxury.

I love all these.

But especially the 3558g. The seconds subdial makes it such a classic and interesting watch.
