Samwan, a discerning collector, explores the transformative power of new straps on his luxury watches, breathing fresh life into pieces he doesn't often wear. His post showcases a variety of unique strap pairings, from tribal patterns to exotic leathers, inviting the community to share their thoughts on his bold aesthetic choices.

Since I have no immediate acquisition target (apart from an embargoed piece from my favorite brand smile ), I decided to try new straps on pieces I don't often wear (black leather straps are boring). All of a sudden, I seem to have a handful of new watches....voila....

5496P with brown leather and a tribal pattern

Cabaret in platinum with grey elephant skin

Richard Lange PLM (fusee chain) with red stitches (to match the red accents on the dial)

De Bethune DB25 jewelery with purple leather

5170G in burgundy

5905P with beige leather

Langematic Power Reserve for Wempe with grey leather

Two more pieces are in the pipeline (one of them with blue hippo skin and silver stitches for my grail). Can't wait to see them.

What do you think?
Sam

About the De Bethune DB25 Ref. DB25

De Bethune DB25 Reference DB25

The DB25 represents De Bethune's entry in the 44.5mm manual-wind category, distinguished by its silver dial configuration within the DB25 series. This reference launched in 2006 and continues the brand's approach to contemporary haute horlogerie complications.

The 44.5mm case is crafted from 18k white gold with a fixed bezel and sapphire crystal. Water resistance extends to 30 meters. The manual-winding caliber DB2105 movement provides a substantial 120-hour power reserve. The watch features a leather strap attachment.

This reference appeals to collectors seeking De Bethune's technical approach to timekeeping in a precious metal case. The extended power reserve and manual-wind operation position it for enthusiasts who appreciate hands-on interaction with their timepieces. The 44.5mm sizing places it in contemporary proportions within the independent watchmaking segment.

The distributor, they are original pp straps. The rest are custom made by Mister Chrono. They are in Paris, Hong Kong and Singapore....

I just changed the strap on my 5159 to shiny black from the original brown. I will try to remember yours for the next time, I am sure it would look great on a 5159!!!
