Dje's 2012 post introduces the Patek Philippe Ref. 7140 R, a significant addition to the brand's Grande Complication collection for ladies. This article highlights Patek Philippe's approach to women's high horology, presenting a perpetual calendar with a contemporary design sensibility. It offers a glimpse into how the brand balances traditional complications with modern aesthetics for its female clientele.

Patek Philippe presented only one new ladies' watch in the Grande Complication collection this year.

The Patek Philippe 7140 R is a 35.1mm pink gold perpetual calendar.

As a ladies' watch, the watch is set with 68 diamonds on the bezel for 0.68 carat. The tang buckle is set with 27 diamonds for 0.2 carat.

The design is quite young and modern, in no way classic !

The watch is simply a ladies' 5140, with the traditional subdials.

You find the calibre 240 in the back, a great calibre admired for decades.

This great ladies' watch is fitted with two backs, one transparent for admiring the calibre and another plain one, if you want to offer it engraved for instance.

You can see it below on another wrist (not mine for once). A watch perfectly deserved on this wrist!

The watch is waterproof at 30 meters.

I hope to read comments from ladies around, to give us their views.

Best

About the Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar Ref. 5140

The Patek Philippe Reference 5140 is a perpetual calendar wristwatch, succeeding the highly regarded Reference 3940. It maintains the classic Patek Philippe perpetual calendar layout, featuring day, date, month, leap year, and moon phase indications. The 5140 was introduced with a slightly larger case diameter than its predecessor, reflecting contemporary preferences while retaining a traditional aesthetic.

This reference is powered by the ultra-thin self-winding Caliber 240 Q, known for its micro-rotor construction which allows for a slender case profile. The movement provides a power reserve of 48 hours. The watch is presented in 18k white gold, rose gold, or yellow gold cases, measuring 39 mm in diameter, and is fitted with a sapphire crystal. It offers water resistance to 30 meters.

The 5140 appeals to collectors seeking a modern perpetual calendar with a direct lineage to Patek Philippe's established complications. Its production run from 2006 to 2019 saw various dial configurations, including opaline and silvery finishes. The watch is typically paired with a leather strap and a deployant clasp, consistent with Patek Philippe's classic offerings.

from my table, a few days ago. They tried both, the 7140R and the similar (less complicated) 4968R. Both found it pleasant, but would have prefered it without "stones". They said it would be much more wearable without, for their kind of life style. The lady to my left fall in love with chronograph´s for men and the lady to my right was keen on the 7130G (world timer for ladies), but would have prefered it without "stones". Told her to look for an "old" 5110P ... Oliver
