Christianch's acquisition of the Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711/1A-011 with a white dial offers a personal perspective on a highly coveted reference. This post highlights the unique appeal of the white dial variant, often overshadowed by its blue counterpart, and shares the excitement of securing a watch with a significant waiting list.

I was just browsing the forum this morning and I saw some photos of an aquanaut dual time zone - probably one of the ideal summer casual companions.

In my typical week end walk downtown I saw in the display window of my local Patek boutique two aquanauts.
As these are not very often in stock and fresh from the forum inspiration I decided to go inside and have a look. As soon as I arrived I was told that after months the Nautilus I always wanted (there is a very big waiting list for all nautilus in steel - less long for the white dial which I love and wanted) was waiting for me !

So here are some photos of my third Patek (joining a 5127 and a the golden ellipse 3738/100G-012) that joins me just in time for the summer !

The Nautilus has always been my favourite Patek ever but it is simply very difficult to find (the traditional in steel, complicated
Nautilus seems more available here). This said I am glad that I didn't get one before as I really love the white dial. I have seen previous post and I understand that is not as loved as the traditional blue dial one but the white is so much more special to me.

When I joined the waiting list for the this Nautilus 5711/1A-011 I could also try the 5712G-001 but I can now see the point of steel for a sporty/water watch.  I am in love this classic one but pretty much each nautilus has something special. The  5712G-001 was also very nice but I tend to prefer white/silvered dials and obviously there is also a price difference smile

The Nautilus  5711/1A-011 feels very comfortable and light on the wrist. It is the most comfortable steel bracelet I have ever tried. I know that there are already plenty of other photos of this Nautilus in the forum but I hope that you would not mind seeing some more from one of the few owners that prefers a white to a blue Nautilus smile

What do you think of the Nautilus 5711/1A-011? What do you like/dislike about it ? If you are a Nautilus or Aquanaut owner don't be shy and share some photos of your favourite summer companion !

About the Patek Philippe 5712 Ref. 5712

The Patek Philippe Complications Reference 5712 is a notable offering within the brand's Complications collection, distinguished by its asymmetrical dial layout and a suite of practical indications. It presents a sophisticated blend of functionality and design, offering a moon phase, power reserve indicator, and an analog date display, all arranged to create a distinctive visual identity that sets it apart from more traditional Patek Philippe designs.

This particular reference features a stainless steel case measuring 40 mm in diameter, housing the self-winding caliber 240 PS IRM C LU. This movement is known for its slim profile, achieved through the integration of a micro-rotor, contributing to the watch's comfortable wearability. The watch is fitted with a sapphire crystal and offers a water resistance of 60 meters, with a power reserve of approximately 48 hours.

For collectors, the 5712 represents an accessible entry into Patek Philippe's complicated timepieces, offering a range of functions without the complexity of a perpetual calendar or chronograph. Its stainless steel construction and integrated bracelet provide a robust and versatile option, appealing to those seeking a daily wearable complicated watch. The reference has been in production since 2006, with the 5712/1A denoting the stainless steel bracelet variant.

Its Blue Grey dial... The nuance is highlmy captivating. In white, the magic goes away, a bit. But the most important is your conviction on this Watch! Congratulations. Here is a picture of my Ex 5712: Best, Nicolas

Thats great choice and i am also thinking about white dial Nau. I think that white dial would match fantastically with white crispy formal shirt and dark grey or navy blue suit. Could you please make a such foto? With white shirt? Thanks a lot and enjoy your new beauty! Ed

for everyone ! I think the Patek production reflects this. I think the White will still have a nice of people that like it more. I find it very special at the sun. It is probably the special patterns of the dial that makes it look so unique!

Thank you for the kind comments. I will try it on Monday with a white shirt and I will try to post a photo. If you can find one in person you should really try it !

The indices really pop on the white dial and it gives a younger and more refreshing look IMO. Perfect for summer wear. The steel Nautilus is the most comfortable, refined and most sophisticated SS watch bar none IMO. I would have a hard time deciding between the blue or white dial version but neither is a bad choice. :) fernando

To read about a member who for years has waited to get a certain piece has then finally achieved their goal. Was your visit to the boutique pre-planned or did you not know that your Patek awaited you? In which case was a lovely surprise. :)
