EDJA shares his excitement over acquiring what he was told is the last Patek Philippe Ref. 5127R Calatrava produced, a significant moment for any collector. His post offers a personal perspective on the watch, comparing it to newer models like the 5205R and 5227R, and sparking a discussion about Patek Philippe's evolving Calatrava line.

Dear friends, just wanted to share with you my joy.
This wednesday I just came back from Geneve Salon on Rue De Rohne and enjoy my new companion 5127R Calatrava.
I have been told by Patek Salon Sales that this is the last 5127R produced on PP factory just a week ago. So, its the last rose gold 5127 which left its cradle...I am so proud about that!

I have seen there new 2013 models including 5205 in rose gold and 5227 new calatrava.
And for sure, i have tried my two dream watches - 5270 and 5131J...
Both are awesome and too far from me at the same time.

I have tried new 5227 and have to say that i am very happy with my 5127 with its 37mm comparing 39mm 5227...
Also, i dont think that 7k difference justifed by Officer case back.

New 5205 in Rose gold will be best seller IMO!
Milky dial and rose warm gold made this watch just Beatiful!
I am seriously considering to swap my black faced 5205G for 5205R with white face...

My new  "last" 5127R

New 5205R

5227 R

And my lovely dream 5131J

So, long story short...

Many thanks to Geneva Salons Friends and Yelena Chabanian from Geneva Salon for great effort and support, kindness and patience....
Kari, thank you for your advices and support, mate!
Best,
Ed

About the Patek Philippe Ref. 5131

The Patek Philippe Complications reference 5131 is a World Time model, distinguished by its cloisonné enamel dial depicting a map of the world. This reference is part of a series that showcases Patek Philippe's expertise in both horological complications and traditional decorative arts, offering a functional travel watch with significant aesthetic appeal. It represents a continuation of the brand's long-standing tradition of producing World Time watches, updated with contemporary design elements and a self-winding movement. The 5131 is recognized for its intricate dial work, which varies depending on the specific metal and region depicted.

The watch features a 39.5mm case, available in various precious metals, housing the self-winding Caliber 240 HU. This movement provides a power reserve of 48 hours and drives the World Time complication, allowing the wearer to simultaneously view the time in 24 different time zones. The case is fitted with a sapphire crystal, ensuring durability and clear visibility of the detailed dial. Water resistance is rated at 30 meters, suitable for everyday wear. The fixed bezel frames the intricate dial, contributing to the watch's refined profile.

As a World Time model with a cloisonné dial, the 5131 appeals to collectors who appreciate both technical sophistication and artisanal craftsmanship. Its limited production and the unique hand-finished nature of each dial contribute to its desirability within the secondary market. The reference fits into Patek Philippe's Complications collection as a high-end travel watch, offering a distinctive alternative to more traditional time-only or chronograph models. Variants typically involve different precious metal cases and corresponding enamel map depictions.

Congratulations! I believe 5127R is much more sensible than 5227R taking into account the price difference. furthermore, for such a simple Calatrava I trust that 37 mm is much better for you than 39 mm. How interesting, you are dreaming about 5131J... Are you going to get it? It was a hard job for me to convince the right shop to allocate one for me. I could choose between J and G and ended up saying "G". What bothers me is a strong feeling that later 5131 will also be made in R and P. should I

Kari, thank you for kind words! Nothing compared with Geneva Salon - this is the heart of the Patek Philippe world! The walls and the ceilings does remember the all days of 175 year history... And people at Salon are great and very supportive. P.S. Photo is prohibited. I have posted only whist-photos and mine 5127R. Hope this will not affect my future vidits of Geneva Salons. :) I do want 5131 but i don't beleive that i get it - Russia' Dealer did not get any model for all these years ( based on

Try to get your 5131 from a Patek Salon. You are already a client and you can be sure that if somebody gets 5131, it will be some major trusted ADs and Patek's own Salons. Trying is costing nothing... Except if it happens like it happened with me - then it's costing the list price. Best, Kari

My consern is that at the time when my turn will come in the long waiting list, this watch will be out of production and discontinued. So, let say i am number 58, and production will be stoped on number 35 :)
