All is in the title. It took me quite a long time to find and buy my 5070.

It was quite a surprise, as I was in the list for a P, but after 2 years of wait, I understood that I will not get it.

Before the P, I always lurked on the G. The epitome of a cool chronograph, not the finest, in my opinion, since the Datograph does better in terms of finish, and the Duometre is more original, but in terms of coolness, the 5070G ( for once, I would say the the J is a great alternative with its black dial ) is really on the top.

Elegant, discrete despite its big case, it has a superb presence on the wrist.

I must say that I am quite happy with it, and very happy to celebrate its 4th anniversary in my collection.

A fresh picture, for the occasion...

And some old pictures with some contenders:

With the Duometre,

With the Datograph,

With the Les Historiques Chronograph,

With its brothers:

Happy 4th Birthday to this one!

Best,

Nicolas

About the Patek Philippe Ref. 5070

The Patek Philippe reference 5070, part of the Complications collection, marked a significant return for the brand to large-format chronographs. Introduced in 1998, it was the first non-perpetual calendar chronograph produced by Patek Philippe since the reference 1463, which ceased production in the early 1960s. Its design drew inspiration from a unique Patek Philippe aviator's watch from the 1940s, characterized by its prominent case and dial layout, yet reinterpreted for a contemporary audience. This reference established a new aesthetic direction for the brand's chronographs, moving towards more substantial case dimensions.

The watch features a 42mm case, initially offered in 18k yellow gold, housing the manual-winding Caliber CH 27-70. This movement, based on a Nouvelle Lémania ébauche, was extensively finished and modified by Patek Philippe, meeting the brand's stringent quality standards. It provides a power reserve of approximately 55 hours. The dial, in this specific configuration, is black, protected by a sapphire crystal, and the watch is water-resistant to 30 meters. The fixed bezel frames the dial, and the watch is typically fitted with a leather strap.

Reference 5070 appeals to collectors interested in modern Patek Philippe chronographs that combine traditional movement architecture with a more contemporary case size. Its limited production run and the subsequent introduction of variants in other precious metals contribute to its collectibility. The reference represents a distinct period in Patek Philippe's chronograph history, bridging vintage inspirations with a new era of larger watch designs.

W O W !

Luckily I'm sitting, otherwise I would have fallen fainted in front of such beauty! More years pass and the more I appreciate this model: is perhaps the habit of seeing him or my taste evolves, or maybe knowing that it belongs to another period is forgiven some heaviness in the design of the case... Hard to choose among these superb watches. Get them all is the best compromise... :-) Thank for the beautiful pictures Nico! massi

The sad thing is that I owned them all...

And that all of them were stolen, at the exception of the Patek... Grazie, Amico, forse la prendere per Trieste! :) Ciao, Nicolas

oh nooo!

I am very sorry for what you tell me... As a great lover of watchmaking I know that there is something of our heart in every watch we have: at least those that we do not resell, but this is another matter. I wish with all my heart that you had to replace the stolen pieces with something even more astounding!!! Buona serata amico mio, a te e alla tua splendida famiglia! See you soon in TS! massi
