Tempus shares the emotional story behind acquiring his Patek Philippe Ref. 5070G, a watch he describes as unique and a "killer-watch." His narrative emphasizes the profound connection collectors can have with their timepieces, especially when acquired through a generous gesture.

This reference is really something very special and somehow unique in PP watches. I had to have this killer-watch, that was for sure. And of course it had to be perfect. New, unworn, perfect case etc.
And now a very good friend of mine and a real gentleman answered my prayers and gave it to me for a very, very fair price. He said: "You really love this watch and that is the only reason I give it to you. Money is not everything!"
You can imagine how touched and happy I am!
The watch is from 2007. We had this discussion here lately: It is working perfect and keeping time absolutely precise!
Maybe you can compare it a little to those gorgeous air-cooled Porsche. This is an era that's gone forever and as good as it gets. I love this mouvement, its architecture and finish is still a dream.
I went for the G from the beginning, because to me it is the most beautiful one. The P is gorgeous, of course, and its rarity makes it very collectible, but blue is not my favorite dial-colour for watches. One of the reasons I went for 5905 black dial. Please don't get me wrong, it is just my personal taste.
It is hard to explain, I have a pretty nice collection meanwhile, but this one impresses me the most. Hard to explain. Perhaps you can imagine how lucky I am!

About the Patek Philippe Annual Calendar Chronograph Ref. 5905

Patek Philippe Reference 5905 Annual Calendar Chronograph

The Reference 5905 represents Patek Philippe's integration of annual calendar and flyback chronograph complications within their contemporary collection. This model combines the practical annual calendar function with chronograph timing capabilities, positioning it among the manufacturer's multi-complication offerings produced from 2015 to present.

The 42mm case is constructed in 18k white gold with polished bezel treatment and sapphire crystal protection. The automatic Caliber CH 28-520 IRM QA 24H provides the timekeeping and complication functions, delivering 45-55 hours of power reserve. The black dial is fitted to a leather strap, with water resistance rated to 30 meters.

This reference appeals to collectors seeking Patek Philippe's combination of calendar and chronograph functions in a larger case format. The 42mm sizing and white gold construction distinguish it within the annual calendar range, while the flyback chronograph capability adds operational versatility for timing applications.

every now and then and yes, there's something special. Still I think that the movement of 5170 beats the one of 5070 but as whole, 5070 is a more interesting watch. Best, Kari

Hopefully the as-new condition doesn't keep you from wearing and fully experiencing your 5070. Congrats, John
