Anaroku's personal reflection on his Patek Philippe Ref. 3445G offers a unique perspective on collecting, highlighting that emotional attachment can transcend a watch's market value or pristine condition. His detailed examination of a modified vintage piece, including its re-done dial and transparent case back, invites collectors to consider the beauty in imperfection and personalization. This article explores why a seemingly 'nondescript' reference can hold such significant personal value, even when it deviates from original specifications.

It’s an ordinary round model, but I feel a strange attachment to it.

Ref.3445G was once sold in large numbers in Japan, and the price is reasonable compared to other PP antique models. However, I still have a strong attachment to this nondescript model that I bought 10 years ago.

This straight rug, which is less popular than the Calatrava style, is also not very pristine.

The dial is clearly re-done and the logo is printed as well.

However, the previous owner modified the back cover to a transparent one so that you could see the Cal.27-460 inside. Therefore, the thickness of the watch may be a little thicker than the original. However, thanks to the thin strap, it is very comfortable to wear.
