India Whiskey Charlie introduces the Panerai Submersible QuarantaQuattro eSteel models, highlighting Panerai's commitment to sustainable watchmaking with its innovative eSteel material. This article delves into the technical specifications of the new 44mm Submersibles, featuring the Panerai Caliber P.900, and explores the community's nuanced reactions and insights regarding these latest releases and Panerai's broader brand direction.

The PAM00171 represents Panerai's Luminor Power Reserve series in a 44mm case configuration. This reference combines the Luminor case architecture with power reserve indication functionality, distinguishing it from standard time-only Luminor models within the collection.
The watch features a 44mm case constructed from titanium and steel materials, paired with a matching titanium and steel bracelet. The black dial provides the foundation for the display, though specific movement details and power reserve indication layout are not specified in available documentation.
This reference appeals to collectors seeking Panerai's Luminor design language with additional complications beyond basic timekeeping. The titanium and steel construction offers an alternative to all-steel variants, while the 44mm case size aligns with Panerai's standard large-format approach. The power reserve complication adds functional value for those prioritizing mechanical awareness in their timepieces.
...kind of hard to tell : )
I believe there are additional submersibles that are not esteel new on their site. They’re 44mm.
Not my cup of tea, nice otherwise.
The dial doesn't need to say "eSteel" on it. It dates the watch and cheapens it.
Apparently it has something to do with recycled material content. All Panerai eSteel watch cases have to have at least 52% by weight of recycled metals for the metal case. The range will be anywhere from 52% to 60%. It will also vary among models and years. Remember Rolex once rejected a huge amount of metric tonnes of steel due to some small titanium cross contamination from their steel vendor? Well, this is Panerai saying we are very flexible with what kind of steel grade we use.
Now the question is what do you think of these offerings? I admit, the white dial interests me, but I waiver back and forth since haven’t seen it in the metal.
