Miranda shares a captivating photo essay from a Panerai and Watches of Switzerland event aboard the yacht Eileen, cruising the Thames. Her post not only captures the scenic journey but also offers first impressions of the new SIHH 2012 Panerai pieces, providing a unique blend of lifestyle and watch commentary.
Spent a wonderful 3.5 hours aboard the beautiful Eileen courtesy of Panerai and Watches of Switzerland, with me old mate Dave
met some wonderful folks from the "other" Panerai forum, Phuman and Nick, Essex boys!
also hade a chance to look at the new SIHH 2012 pices sans la boutique pieces
so without further ado...lets get ready to sail:
Ariival at Canary Wharf,Docklands

down the Thames towards Tower Bridge...

the Olympic rings!

HMS Belfast

there were watches too.....
the Claifornia with date has me won, but I'm only a pretend Panersisti...so not too fussed about facist DNA watches LMAO
the Tutto Nero is spectacular and very light

the new 42mm Luminor 1950 is nice but too thick for the width in my opinion, but a flatter base manual wind will be a killer in that size
The big surprise is the SLC with the gold hands...brilliant, but and this is a big butt! PLEASE LEAVE OFF THE PIG LIKE THE PROTO
im not a die hard DNA junky, but even I think it will spoil the look

Marine chronometre:

so what do you think of the new collections...let the discussions begin

and a big thank you to the wonderful ladies from Panerai and my mate Dave

heading back

A fabulous day that will live long in the memory,
Best
Imran
The Panerai PAM372 is a Luminor 1950 model that draws inspiration from historical Panerai designs, particularly those from the 1950s. It is distinguished by its clean, two-hand dial layout and the absence of a small seconds sub-dial, which emphasizes its vintage aesthetic. This reference was part of a series that aimed to reintroduce classic Panerai elements to a contemporary audience, focusing on simplicity and historical accuracy in its presentation. It represents a direct link to the brand's heritage, offering a less complicated display than many of its counterparts.
The watch features a 47mm polished steel case, characteristic of early Panerai models, fitted with a 3mm thick Plexiglass crystal. It houses the in-house developed manual-wind Calibre P.3000, which provides a substantial power reserve of three days. The movement is visible through a sapphire crystal case back, allowing for appreciation of its construction. The large crown guard, a signature Luminor feature, ensures water resistance and protects the winding crown.
For collectors, the PAM372 is notable for its faithful recreation of historical design cues, including the "sandwich" dial construction and the use of Plexiglass, which contributes to its vintage appeal. Its limited production run and adherence to traditional Panerai proportions make it a sought-after reference among enthusiasts who value the brand's origins. The watch appeals to those seeking a direct connection to Panerai's past without modern embellishments.
What a day you had! Best, Nicolas
Great pics too. Thanks for sharing. Khalid
Wow, I wish I could have joined! Thanks for the report! I had lots of fun in London, and sadly leaving today.... Ken
Imran, As a self-confessed pretender, which brand really rocks your boat? Patek Philippe? Does that shiver your timbers? What is a definition of a PuristS, in your book? is it the watch or the man? :-) On a Panerai boat albeit with very nauti ladies onboard. Nice photoreport, by the way....thanks for that. Regards, MTF PS. I am not even a pretend panersistii.....have none at all.
