AnthonyTsai, General Manager of PuristSPro and Panerai forum co-moderator, provides an exclusive report on the inaugural PuristSPro Panerai dinner event in Beverly Hills. This coverage offers a detailed look at Panerai's new P.9000 movement and SIHH 2009 lineup, capturing the vibrant community spirit and the brand's strategic direction. His enthusiastic account highlights the growing appeal of Panerai among collectors.

Yesterday evening was PuristSPro's 1st ever Panerai dinner event.  As the General Manager of PuristSPro and Panerai forum co-moderator, words cannot express how thrilled I was to be able to organize and put together this Panerai event for the PuristS community.  We had many new faces at this Panerai event where 60% of the PuristS in attendance were at their first official PuristS event!  This is a true testament that the PuristS community is growing strong even during this economic slowdown.

Before I go any further, I want to thank the gracious Chad Warrick, Panerai Beverly Hills Boutique Manager, for putting together an awesome memorable event.  Thank you and I truly mean it from deep down inside.

I'm a fan of many brands but Panerai has always been the brand which has been closest to my heart.  Anytime I'm unsure of which watch to wear for the day or week, I always find myself gravitating towards one of my Panerai's.  And each time, the result is a huge smile on my face smile  There really is no cure for the Panerai virus - once infected, game over!

Our event started at the Beverly Hills Panerai Boutique on Brighton Way (which I refer to as "Richemont Street" since Panerai, JLC, IWC, and Cartier Boutiques are all in row side-by-side).  Below is a picture of the Boutique facade.

Anxious to see what goodies are inside?  Let's enter then!  Don't you just love the Panerai crown protector as the door handle?

The new curvy wood wall displays are very beautiful and give the added nautical touch to the Boutique aura.

As you can see from the below pictures, the theme of this event is to showcase the new P.9000 movement for the entry level in-house movement line.

To put it briefly, the P.9000 movements are all automatics with a 3-day power reserve.  There are currently no manual winds.  The sapphire crystal is slightly domed and flatter than the domed 1950 Luminor crystal.  Water resistance is rated to 300m, and all the P.9000 movements have the useful zero reset feature for easy, quick, and accurate setting of the seconds.  Another great feature is the quick set hour hand where you can easily change the hour hand in +/- 1 hour increments.

Panerai's goal for this movement is to create a basic movement which is robust and simple for its customers, and I believe they have succeeded in this effort.  The P.9000 movements are adequately finished, and the quick set hour and seconds features are useful and practical features for the average Joe.

Here's Panerai North America Marketing Director Tom Byrczek (left), Chad Warrick (center), and Art Dakessian (our Glashutte moderator) making introductions and chatting away.

I would love to have a wall sized poster of the below display to put in my office!

About the Panerai Mare Nostrum Steel Ref. PAM300

The PAM300 represents Panerai's Mare Nostrum series in a steel case configuration. This reference delivers the Mare Nostrum design in brushed steel construction with a substantial 52mm case diameter.

The watch features a brushed steel case measuring 52mm across, paired with a matching brushed steel bezel. Protection comes from 1.6mm sapphire crystal, while water resistance extends to 30 meters. The movement is the Calibre OP XXV, housed within the steel case construction.

This reference appeals to collectors seeking a large-format steel sports watch from Panerai's Mare Nostrum collection. The 52mm case size positions it for those who prefer substantial wrist presence, while the brushed steel finishing provides a utilitarian aesthetic. The PAM300 offers an entry point into the Mare Nostrum series for collectors focused on steel case variants.

Before we start, out of respect for our guests' privacy, I will not be posting any names of people except for PPro and Panerai staff. Below, Chad is introducing the new SIHH 2009 line-up to Art. OoOoO...what is this monster? It's the 60mm Panerai Radiomir Egiziano aka "The Egyptian". 500 piece limited edition, made in titanium, and houses the in-house P.2002/7 movement. More on this watch later but I'm a nice guy so here are some pictures to keep you drooling Look at the size of this 60mm beast

Below is the Panerai PAM28 Luminor Power Reserve which is a limited to 1000 pieces. This is a re-edition of the PAM28 and the main difference is a slightly different looking power reserve display. I personally like the original power reserve display; but other than that, the Soprod movement w/ central seconds hand in this new PAM28 is the same as in the original. This watch is the 2nd of the re-editions as Panerai re-released the PAM26 last year. Below is the new 47mm Panerai PAM319 Luminor 1950

After the cocktail reception at the Panerai Boutique, we walk 1 block over to Prego on Camden Drive. We have a spacious private room upstairs, and at each table was a Panerai rep to answer questions about the watches. Below is a picture of the table setting w/ name cards. After everyone arrived and the waitstaff jotted down our dinner selections, I started off our dinner with some brief words and then handed it off to Tom Byrczek who has been the Marketing Director of Panerai North America for a

Here are some pics that Ping took with our point and shoot camera. Pictures were purposely taken with no flash, so please excuse the pixelation in the pictures. Below is a picture of the lovely table centerpieces and name cards. My PAM21 and Ping's PAM159. I think they were having a great time as well seeing all their brothers and sisters! Here's Bill N ash who is PPro's Managing Director. A Panerai w/ metal bracelet graces this lovely lady's wrist. The goodie bag for the night consists of the n

Many thanks to Anthony and Panerai Beverly Hills who co-organized and took care of the logistics of such a wonderful evening! It was a great opportunity to meet PuristS members and share their appreciation for Panerai watches. The intimate event was filled with watch connoisseurs who really appreciated watches and shared their contagious pleasure with other PuristS members. It was thoroughly enjoyable to be in a room where everyone shared the same passions as everyone else. My favorites of the e
