Nicolas, known as amanico on WatchProSite, invites collectors to revisit the iconic 'Pre-Vendome' era of Officine Panerai. His original post, rich with imagery, showcases the rare and historically significant references produced between 1993 and 1996. This article synthesizes community insights, offering a deeper appreciation for these 'Holy Monsters' and their enduring legacy in luxury watch collecting.

The PAM00201 represents Panerai's Radiomir GMT collection in a 45mm platinum case configuration. This reference combines the GMT complication with an 8-day power reserve through the P.2002 movement, positioning it as a travel-focused timepiece within the Radiomir series.
The 45mm case is crafted from platinum and houses a black dial. The P.2002 movement provides GMT functionality alongside an extended 8-day power reserve, offering practical complications for frequent travelers or those requiring extended accuracy between windings.
This reference appeals to collectors seeking platinum case construction combined with multi-complication functionality. The GMT feature and extended power reserve make it suitable for those prioritizing practical complications, while the platinum case material positions it within the premium segment of the Radiomir collection.
The 5218- 202 / A Marina Militare PVD. Followed by the Mare Nostrum with a smooth bezel (not sly) I expect Panerai will re-produce these 2 models, MN in wearable size (not 52mm) and also a small Egyptiano. Thanks Nicolas for sharing all these beauties Best regards, Patrickh
These watches can't be released again, sadly. The 360 is maybe the closer approach to the Pre V world, indeed. As for new releases, a small Egyiziano, or a Mare 47 mm would also make my day. But this is the Future, not the Past. Best, Nicolas
The 5218-203 / A Luminor Marina PVD for me. I like the smooth Mare Nostrum as well
I think any of them would be a jewel in any collection, well, at least in my opinion. I loved a lot the 2 watches you mentionned. Great choice! Best, Nicolas
I love the simplicity of the dial.. Only "LUMINOR PANERAI" and the logo.. Combined with the fat tritium index.. Simple yet stunning... Next will be the Marina Militare 202/A.. The simplicity is close to the logo.. Only it is using MARINA MILITARE wording instead of the logo.. 4 lines could look like a lot of wording. But in person, combined with the PVD case, it's just beautiful.. To me the logo 201/a is the ultimate Panerai. If I were given the choice to own only one Panerai, I will not hesitat
And I completely tend to agree with you on the Logo. Exactly for the reasons you mentionned, + the fact that it was, with the Mare and the MM, the first ones to attend the re birth of the brand. But the Logo, and the one I posted, which happens to be mine, has, therefore a special story. See Poy's answer, you will understand. Thanks for your very nicely written input! Best, Nicolas
