Tony (aperna) showcases his Panerai PAM 661 Luminor Carbotech on a rubber strap, preparing it for a South Florida getaway. His post highlights the practical versatility of this modern Panerai reference, inviting fellow collectors to appreciate its design and functionality for active wear. The community's discussion delves into the watch's appeal and offers practical advice for strap customization.

The Luminor reference 661 is notable for its use of Carbotech, a composite material based on carbon fiber, which provides a distinctive matte black appearance and a lightweight yet robust case. This reference represents Panerai's continued exploration of advanced materials within its established Luminor case design, offering a contemporary interpretation of the brand's aesthetic. It stands out in the collection for its technical material innovation rather than traditional metal alloys.
The watch features a 44mm Carbotech case, housing the P.9010 automatic mechanical caliber. This movement provides a three-day power reserve, a practical duration for daily wear. The dial is protected by a sapphire crystal, ensuring clarity and scratch resistance. The Carbotech material is utilized for the case, bezel, and the signature crown protection device, maintaining a cohesive design language throughout the watch's exterior.
This reference appeals to collectors interested in modern material science applied to horology and those seeking a Panerai with a distinct visual and tactile presence. It offers an alternative to the more common steel or titanium Luminor models, positioning itself as a contemporary option within the brand's extensive catalog. The use of Carbotech contributes to its unique identity and collector appeal.
looks great! I suppose itβs also very comfortable to wear? Best Thomas
I know Sergio will probably get an upset stomach looking at it but itβs a lovely watch to wear
Better than our highly esteemed Sergio suffers a collapse. I am sure he sleeps already and we can safely correspond about bad bad bad non-pure Panerais... π Seriously: thanks a lot for the explanation. It is a really nice piece, Tony!
with modern Panerais. I saw this model at its launch, in Geneva and liked it..immediately. I also foresaw a great "future" with lots of sales in it. The fact that "it doesn't do it for me" it's MY problem not the watch's one. It's firmly in my list of "most beautiful Panerais I'd never...buy". You, on the other hand enjoy it too much!!
a nice comment about my beloved .... 721? π
