Nicolas (amanico) presents a compelling comparison of three iconic Panerai models: the PAM 372, PAM 587, and PAM 662. His post, accompanied by a 'family picture,' invites the community to weigh the distinct characteristics of each 47mm Radiomir-style watch, from sandwich dials to case designs and unique colorations, as he contemplates his next acquisition.

Nothing better than a family picture, to make your mind.

The good news is that I have the feeling that one can't go wrong with any of these. The 372 for its sandwich dial and its typical crown protection, the 587 for its sandwich Marina Militare dial and pencil hands, and the 662 for its original " capucino " color.

All three 47 mm case, and so typically Panerai.

I am making my mind slowly. And I will get one, this year. I  let Fate decide a bit for me, because I am really undecided. I would say that the 587 is a bit, just a bit above the two others. But any of these, or several, or all of them will make my day!

You?

Best,

Nicolas

... Marina Militare, elegant pencil hands, sandwich dial, symmetrical 1940 Radiomir case without crown guard. If two, then add the 372 with its different, 1950 case, crown guard, and thicker hands. If three, a great trio ;-) Even better? Decide between the 587 and 662 and add a wire lug Radiomir, like the 249.

... I’ve come around to the idea that passion, and sometimes unexplainable desire, is more important than logic when it comes to choosing watches. So maybe get the one (or ones!) that move you most regardless of what makes sense for the collection ;-)

... especially compared to the 372. So maybe timing and urgency is a factor. If you find a 587, go for it!
