Chronometer (aka yacomino) shares a recent acquisition from a Panerai boutique: an OEM strap perfectly matched to the hour markers of his timepiece. This post delves into the subtle yet significant impact a well-chosen strap can have on a watch's aesthetic, prompting a discussion among collectors about the nuances of OEM Panerai straps and their evolving character over time.

Perfect match for the dial, enjoy it to the max!
My advice is wear that strap hard... getting it a little wet, a little oily, a little dirty does wonders for the look. I’ve had a few in my day and love them. You might not be inclined to believe me but this is essentially the same as what you have... mine is the Beige “Vintage” Ponte Vecchio, whereas you have the Beige Ponte Vecchio (without the Vintage designation). It’s the same material, mine just has the unfinished edges, the OP Logo, and no padding. My strap started out light and became...
I also bought this strap with my 995 because I liked it more than the dark reddish brown strap it was originally on. But I ended up putting an alternative strap to both these, while keeping this one till a later time. But you do make it look mighty tempting!
I have abused mine for years and it gets better over time, just be aware that they have a structural design flow like most OEM straps because they use glue instead of rolling up the leather at the buckle:
422 is easy to spot as it has the seconds at the 9 o’clock subdial
I liked its relatively flatter profile to go along with the 995, as well as the little logo it has on the side.
