Hi I want to ask your views on this Speedmaster. It was an unexpected catch recently.

This is a rare two-tone Teutonic Speedy which was auctioned at the famous Omegamania 2007 in Geneva by Antiquorum. Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity with auction lot number by Omega and Omega papers with two years warranty back then. I really like the champagne dial and the integrated bracelet. IMO the bracelet ranks up there in terms of comfort and build when compared to the oyster bracelet of the Sub and the bracelet of the APRO.

I have recently sent it in to Omega for complete servicing as it is more than 10 years since it was last serviced and it will likely return to me in 2-3 months time.

It is a 45 x 45mm piece. Lug to lug length is 45mm however it looks visually big due to the 45mm width of the case. I am now two hearted whether I should keep it when it returns or sell it.

Generally I am into smaller watches and find smaller pieces much more
elegant and comfortable on the wrist. I also prefer pieces which are versatile and can goes well with formal office wear as well as with T-shirts and jeans. Somehow I feel that this piece might not be so versatile due to its different case shape and two-tone.

And I have recently bought the Cartier Santos medium. So flipping this piece will help me fund the Cartier as well. However I don’t have any chronograph in my collection now, and the regular Speedmaster pro aka moonwatch doesn’t do anything for me. In fact I find those very boring. My ideal chronograph’s size and design-wise should be something like a Rolex Daytona or Lange Datograph.

Do let me know your views/opinions on this piece and whether it’s a keeper or flipper?

You should keep it. I prefer white metal though.

Sell it. I had one recently. Found it too hard to wind and it was uncomfortable on the wrist. Sell.

. . . unless you find it unappealing. It's not a common reference, and they're hard to find in good condition with their bracelets. Best, Art PS - forgot to ask Bill about your Cosmic last weekend, will bring it up when we speak next over the phone.

aaroniusl, I know THAT watch very well...... You got a good deal compared with the Antiquorum hammer price. Ironically, I'd say: Keep it now. Regards, MTF

Hey MTF, can I know why you will know this piece very well? I am trying to find out more about the history about this piece. But can’t find much information online. I always thought it’s gold plated as the auction catalogue states so but an expert from Fratellowatches told me it’s definitely not gold plated and likely to be 18k gold. Can I find out more from you on this piece?
