RJW shares his excitement over acquiring a c1969 Pre-Moon Omega Speedmaster, a significant vintage piece, and expresses gratitude to community expert G99 for guidance. This post not only showcases the watch's condition and provenance but also delves into the creative process behind its stunning photography, offering insights into both collecting and watch photography.

A few months ago, I came across a c1969 Pre Moon Speedmaster. Graham was kind enough to have a look at the images for me prior to my purchase. Afterall, why shouldn't I consult "Mr Speedmaster" and tap into his fountain of knowledge. I see many others have as well and it is great to know there are people like Graham around to help others out.

Fortunately, the price was right in the end and I was able to get this one with box and papers...

From Paris to Sydney (and a US visit in between)...

I contacted Omega as well for an "Extract of the Archives"...

A few minor scratches on the case and plexi but overall good condition with excellent condition tritium...

I thought I'd try my hand at using photoshop. Afterall, its got quite a few functions apart from "autofix" and "crop" ...

Anyway, it's off for a service after Christmas and then I'll be able to give it some decent wear time.

Thanks again for your help Graham.

Thanks for looking.

Regards,
Richard. This message has been edited by RJW on 2010-11-13 18:42:41

Sending it in for a general inspection/tuneup? Nothing wrong with it I hope. Great pictures. Stewart

Hi Stewart, The vendor sent me this information..."The factory red seal was intact when we had our watchmaker open the case to determine the movement calibre". I can only assume the watch hasn't been serviced in over 40 years. It currently gains about 10 seconds per day on my wrist. I figure it's best to have it serviced anyway. Regards, Richard.

... it is always not easy to get a complete set, including paper, box and watch itself, the condition is excellent. got my speedmaster was also partly due to Gragam's influence, he is a great guy companion during the journey of watch collection. congrats, Richard. stefan

with box and papers you have a winner, they seem to be a rareity for watches that old and should be locked away in a very safe place. as you're citing me as your advisor i'm very very glad its as good as you expected and very pleased for you. your children and grandchildren will enjoy wearing it on the 100th anniversary of the moon landing. as for the photoshop, you must tell me how you did the moonshot. i have photoshop elements 7. best Graham
