His query regarding the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra's pricing and sales success invites collectors to weigh in on brand strategy, material innovation, and the delicate balance between exclusivity and accessibility in the luxury watch market. This article synthesizes community insights into why a watch like this commands its price point and whether that strategy resonates with collectors.

It's a really cool concept that I think a LOT of people, including myself, really appreciated. But NOBODY thinks it belongs in the price bracket it's in. I'd love to own and wear a watch like this, but I'll be more broadminded than you: I don't think they'd need to lower the price by 90%. Merely 80%! I think they could sell some at 10k. But it's still remarkable to me to see Omega asking 50k for something that I'm pretty sure they couldn't even sell for 20.

Those are pretty small numbers and it's lasted 5 years. They have maybe 200 left(?). They could have priced them at 10k if they wanted to move them fast, but the pricing makes sense since they are trickling them out slowly. Also makes their ambassadors feel like they are getting something special. This was also the first time ETA made a production movement with titanium bridges and plates afaik, so the whole thing was somewhat experimental. The new planet ocean with Ti movement is less than half
