Subexplorer commemorates the 49th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing, reflecting on its significance as a symbol of friendship and peace. His post beautifully intertwines this historic human achievement with the iconic Omega Speedmaster, worn on his wrist as a tribute to the 'Moonwatch' legacy.
July 20th 1969. 49 years ago Neil Armstrong stepped the Moon for first time. Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins were the crew of mission Apolo 11.
Armstrong described his feat as soon as he put his feet on Moon soil:
“One small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind”
Remembering that great milestone in Humankind History we celebrate here the Dia del Amigo (Friends Day) observing the first Moon Landing as a symbol of friendship and peace among every one on Planet Earth no matter race or religion or nationality.
Happy Friends Day my dear PuristS friends!
Of course Moonwatch Omega Speedmaster on my wrist today!
Cheers! Abel

Here's my Sapphire Sandwich (with a little unaccompanied Bach for emphasis goodwill ) in solidarity. I'll wear it proudly today! FH
No one has ever actually been to the Moon.
I would still like to join in congratulating you and all other Purists a Happy Friendship Day!
OH yes, I love the Apollo-Soyuz 35th. Thinking of the back, I had forgotten the dial. One of the best.
8:56:15 CST=2:56:15 UTC… I'll be lifting a glass tonight!
