I’ve been thinking of this Platinum Onyx 321 for a long time since it’s released in 2019.

It’s heavy but manageable as compared to my bracelet Platinum Daytona.

The sub dial meteorites are mostly grey/white and some blends with the white numerals which I don’t prefer.

This example is one of few I noticed with orange hues and I love it.

A lot has been written about this legendary 321 so I’ll just share the beauty.

Earlier models come in the black fabric Moonwatch box but new ones are in this nice wooden box. They did remove the nato and moonwatch straps but I don’t think I need it on this Pt model.

About the Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch Ref. 311.33.42.30.01.001

The Omega Speedmaster Professional represents one of horology's most enduring legacies, tracing its origins to 1957 as a racing chronograph before achieving immortality through NASA's Apollo missions. This particular example showcases the classic asymmetrical case design and hesalite crystal that defined the watches worn during humanity's first lunar landings. The Speedmaster's transition from motorsport timing tool to space-qualified instrument created a unique position in both horological history and popular culture that few timepieces can match.

The technical execution centers on the manual-wind Caliber 1861, a descendant of the legendary Lemania 1873 movement that powered the moon missions. The black aluminum tachymeter bezel provides the signature visual anchor, while the tri-compax subdial layout offers intuitive chronograph operation. The applied logo and distinctive baton hands maintain the tool watch aesthetic that NASA originally selected for its reliability and legibility under extreme conditions.

In today's market, the Speedmaster Professional occupies a distinctive position as both accessible luxury and genuine historical artifact. Unlike many contemporary chronographs that rely on automatic movements and ceramic bezels, the Speedmaster maintains its original manual-wind architecture and aluminum bezel construction. This adherence to the moon-tested specification creates particular appeal among collectors who value historical authenticity over modern conveniences, establishing the reference as a cornerstone piece for serious watch enthusiasts.

I know…too many good ingredients to go into this one.

They also have a full bracelet version that is way “rich”. I’m happy to go for strap, always think Omega looks nicer on straps than bracelet. Thank you Goh.
