Hello Everyone….

I want to share with you my visit to the NYC Omega Boutique last week to see a preview of some of the new release for 2010.

First and foremost I want to thank everyone at the Boutique that evening.

Before we get into the new watches…  I was able to pop my head into the realm of the watchmakers.  What I find to be very refreshing is a group of young and eager watchmakers ready to work on ANY Omega modern or vintage.  I saw both being worked on at these benches…

I then met with Mr. Laevens the Boutique manager.  We spent the better part of two hours looking and chatting about the past, present and future of Omega watches.   But lets get back to the watches at hand…

First up… New  Speedmaster Automatics.

Men’s

I really like the dial on this example… The raised numbers… and the detail of the sub dial honeycomb  ( a tip of the hat to  Michael Schumacher and the racing grills of a sports car! )

Next the Speedy of my dreams …. A limited edition… unique meteorite dial !

I wanted to keep this one !!

Then I saw the back … stunning caseback!!!    I wish my pictures were better…

Women’s Speedmasters

The anthracite is killer….

One watch that Omega release was the white dialed 1200m Seamaster.  I did not think much of it when it was announced.  When I first saw it  I did not like it one bit.  But then while looking at the other watches my eyes kept looking back at it.  For the life of me I do not know why.  So I went with my gut and asked to try it on and to play with it.  Well after about 1 min I totally changed my mind.

I would change to white strap to another  color or the mesh band.  But the dial is really cool , the entire bezel glows and  is incased in sapphire .  Truly stunning.

I just realized that I am missing about half of the photos that I had taken so I will post the rest of this photo trip later ( sooner rather then later !_).

Good Hunting

Gotta love the lume on the Ploprof, Bill . . .

. . . it's glows like Vegas after dark! Your comments re the meteorite dial Speedy are very interesting . . . of all the space travel-themed limited editions, this one seems the most relevant with a dial made from a meteorite. If only we could get Omega to bring back the boutique in Los Angeles . . .

good thanks!

I can't wait for Omega to release a limited edition Speedmaster whose dial is made from the soles of the astronaut's boots. That's the watch of my dreams. Also the twelve hour totalizer hasn't reset properly on the fishnet Speedmaster. It's clearly faulty.

Cool report, Bill.

I was told by Omega that the dial was the only one to be 100 % meteorite made, while on the Rolex Dayto, only the top is made from meteorite. I find it is a great idea to have associated the Meteorite dial to a Spmeed, for some obvious reasons, of course, but also because the aesthetical outcome is really cool. If I had to pick a modern Speedie, it may well be this one. Sorry, but the White Ploprof is not my taste at all... Too girly looking for me. Best, and thanks for this post, Bill. Nicolas

Stunning watch, this white ploprof with white strap.....

I assume it wears heavy and kill your sleeves, right? Is there a lighter version in all white? Thanks...
