Nicolas (amanico) shares a truly exceptional find: a solid gold Omega Speedmaster Mark II, reference 145.034. This post highlights the thrill of discovering rare variations even for seasoned collectors and invites readers to appreciate the unexpected diversity within iconic watch lines. His initial encounter with this "funky" yet "appealing" timepiece underscores the continuous learning journey in luxury watch collecting.

It is the first time I could see such a Speedmaster.

Funky, yes, appealing, certainly. And at least for me, I learned something when I saw it, some weeks ago.

Best,

Nicolas

I am more and more fascinated by the brand Omega and its history. Is it RG or is it just Patina? Is it full gold or plated? And what’s the case size? Sorry for these many questions… And thanks for sharing!! 🙏😊 Best Thomas

full calendar with chrono and moonphase. I hardly dare to say: it was a quartz watch (oh my god!!!) that my father gave me when I was 18 years old. It was gold plated. I loved this watch, however after 2-3 years the gold color started to peel off the case which was very frustrating for me. So I never acquired a plated watch again.

. . . slightly different: a Mk II in solid 18K yellow gold. There were eight made; one of the rarest Professionals, not to mention least known. Art

. . . concentrating on Speedmasters, and this was one of them. It could be said that the easiest Speedmaster to buy would be a typical gold-plated Mk II, and the toughest a solid gold version. ;-)
