Ruckdee takes readers on a picturesque journey through Northern Thailand, showcasing his Omega Speedmaster Double Sapphire against stunning natural and cultural backdrops. This post beautifully combines travel photography with watch appreciation, illustrating how timepieces accompany collectors through life's adventures.

Given my Southeast Asian location, winter here is more like summer in the rest of the world. Temperature is usually 30-35 degrees Celsius during the day instead of 35-40 C. Nighttime offers more difference with temperature dropping to 20-25 degrees Celsius just before dawn. It is possible to see a further drop to 10-15 C in the mountains to the north or or somewhere in the northeast. But that's just about it. Scorching heat returns as soon as the sun is half way to its noon position.

In any case, I have decided to make the most out of this precious little timeframe by traveling up north to the provinces of Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai and Lampang. I already have a lot of wristshots of my Planet Ocean Chronograph when I visited the Maldives in September. Now would be the chance for my trusty double sapphire Speedmaster to shine.

Leaving the bustling city for the green fields and the blue sky.

Bhumibol Dam in Tak province is named after His Majesty the King. It serves irrigation and power generation purposes.

This royal temple on Doi (Mount) Suthep of Chiang Mai province was built in the 14th century to hold relics of Lord Buddha.

The city of Chiang Mai can be seen below.

Several attractions, scenic spots and countless resorts can be found within short driving distance from the city center.

Exploring the caves gave me a small claustrophobic panic attack. My niece and nephews weren't bothered one bit though.

Further out from the city are the other mountains including this popular Doi Angkhang. Being an early riser here has its benefits.

It was my only night and morning of this trip when the winter temperature could be felt.

Some more driving gets you across the province to Chiang Rai.

This is where I planned to spend less time outside and more time working on my laptop. Yes, it is a sad life, working on vacation. But still it is better than to work at home without the view for a change, no?

View from the terrace of my room

The table they have set for us seven adults, two toddlers and one baby at the resort's restaurant.

Higher up on the roof of the resort before sunset

Same roof the following morning with the rolling fog

There are actually more pics but the watch related contents are all here. I hope you enjoyed the wristshots and the scenery. Thanks for looking and safe travels everyone!

But with one child sick and two other not exactly cooperating, everything was delayed and we did not have time for Mae Sai in the end. Thanks for writing. Ruckdee
