Seeks shares his excitement about collecting the 2018 Omega Speedmaster CK2998 Pulsometer, a limited edition. His post offers initial impressions, detailed macro shots, and a comparison with other CK2998 models, providing valuable insights for collectors interested in this specific reference.
Hi!
Collected a speedy on a Tuesday (it had to be) evening - the 2018 Speedmaster CK2998 Pulsometer. I would like to share a few initial pictures and macros.
Sub seconds hands are not white as in some release pictures I saw but fine grained silver finish (pleasantly surprised) to match the dial. The polished minutes hands has a darken finish.
LUME is not great. I guess Omega is telling me not to take a pulse reading in the dark
Unlike the blue 2018 CK228 with its awesome lume for comparison :

And here are some family photos (2998-2, 2016 Blue CK2998 & 2018 CK2998 Pulsometer)
I’ll wear this for a bit but first impressions - loving the look of the black and light silver finished dial overall. (except for the strap, which can be easily fixed)
Ordered a strap and will post more pics laters. Have a great weekend Friends!

About the Omega Speedmaster Ref. CK2998-2
The Omega Speedmaster CK2998-2 is an early iteration of the Speedmaster line, produced shortly after the original CK2915. It represents a transitional period, retaining many of the design cues that define the pre-Professional Speedmasters while introducing subtle refinements. This reference is part of the broader CK2998 series, which saw several sub-references with minor variations in hands and bezels, establishing the Speedmaster's identity as a robust chronograph.
This reference typically features a stainless steel case with straight lugs, a black dial, and a tachymeter bezel. Powering the watch is the manual-winding Omega Caliber 321, a column-wheel chronograph movement. The dial often presents with alpha hands for the hour and minute, a departure from the broad arrow hands of its predecessor, and often exhibits a desirable aged patina on its luminous elements.
For collectors, the CK2998-2 is highly sought after due to its historical significance as an early Speedmaster and its distinctive aesthetic. Its position in the lineage, bridging the gap between the very first Speedmasters and the later 'Professional' models, makes it a key reference for understanding the evolution of this celebrated chronograph. Examples with original components and an attractive patina are particularly valued.
