I grew up watching "The honeymooners" on reruns when I was a child so maybe I was taking it from that point of view as well. I am in NO WAY condoning that type of behavior BUT again I did not take it that way either. I took Jacky Gleason as a comedian, sort of like Richard Prior or George Carlon who both would be identified as hostile or derogatory nowadays. while I was not old enough to see Jackie during the 60s, I did get to see "The Honeymooners" in the 70s in syndication. My family had just arrived to the states then as we were refugees and during those days maybe I saw things differently than others. Could also be a cultural difference as well.
